The pick of the remainder may be Iron Heart, who took a forward step when third at Kempton last month.

Jazz Hands arrives on a C&D hat-trick and commands the utmost respect for his thriving stable, though he's stepping up from 0-75 company and may have to play second fiddle to DIRECTORY. The selection was the subject of support when second over track and trip in a 0-85 contest on Tuesday but he may be able to better that effort, in this weaker heat, now sporting first-time cheekpieces. Silverturnstogold has won his last three here over 7f to 1m and cannot be left out of calculations either.

ANGEL LANE has been a revelation since switching to the Fibresand and, after letting down favourite backers when attempting to supplement a C&D triumph over the same track and trip last month, she successfully dropped back a furlong with quite a bit up her sleeve. The assessor has responded with a 6lb hike, but she should be up to defying it. Argus struck over 1m6f here before acquitting himself well in France. Blowing Dixie saves his best for this venue, though, and could be the main danger to Karl Burke's filly.

Oblate is starting to become a bit of a Southwell regular and bounced back to form to go in here on New Year's Day. A 6lb rise doesn't leave her with too much room for manoeuvre and perhaps FOX SHINJI is better treated. The expensive Iffraaj colt disappointed on his return from almost a year on the sidelines here in October, but the outing will have blown the cobwebs away and he starts handicap life on an attractive rating. Motahassen and Limerick Lord go well here and must also be considered.

GLOBAL HOPE (second) finished narrowly ahead of Al Suil Eile (third) over this C&D seven days ago and is fancied to confirm the form for Gay Kelleway. Global Melody hasn't been penalised for his victory here earlier in the week but isn't quite as sure to enjoy this extra furlong.

The six-year-old has form figures of 15172235 at this venue and is now 9lb below his last victorious mark.
