UK Horse Racing Tips: Wolverhampton

Any of the handicap debutants could improve enough to take this weak-looking race, including Various and Where Next Jo, but LOOKS GOOD has been steadily improving over the winter and was beaten less than two lengths at Kempton last time. Richard Hughes' charge could finally come of age here, though a pair of Irish raiders in Pink Jazz and Eloquent Poet are likely to be major players.

BILLYFAIRPLAY has been a shade disappointing on his last couple of outings at Dundalk but his previous efforts at the Irish all-weather venue read very well indeed in the context of this race. Kempton fourth Fuente is rated 7lb higher than the selection but has to give him 9lb in this, while Angel Palanas comes out best at the weights on official figures, but 20 of his last 21 runs have come at Southwell so he may be more at home on the Fibresand.

Klopp hit the crossbar over C&D last time and could go one better here, while Almurr was ahead of Klopp's conqueror when successful here latest and is only 3lb higher in this. It Must Be Faith has also been raised 3lb after he dead-heated with Seraphim for first here, but preferred ahead of those is MOUNT WELLINGTON. Stuart Williams' charge has been in fantastic form over 7f here recently and should have no problem with the drop to this trip.

Raymond Tusk got the better of Funny Kid when they met at Newcastle last time and on the same terms it is hard to see how the French raider can reverse that form. They may be playing for places behind RAINBOW DREAMER here, though, as Alan King's gelding has been excellent in landing a pair of Kempton handicaps over this sort of trip and appears to be progressive at the age of seven. The selection's stablemate Scarlet Dragon is not without claims, while Deal A Dollar can't be ruled out either.

KASER showed a decent turn of foot to overcome a sluggish start and strike over C&D. A 2lb rise for that win may underestimate him and David Loughnane's charge can get the better of Smile A Mile, who ran well for second at Southwell under his young pilot. Tough Remedy was beaten a fair way into second at Chelmsford latest so perhaps Star Of Southwold is a better bet for minor honours.

Never Alone was a good second at Sandown on his second start but struggled at Newmarket after that. A gelding operation and the application of blinkers could help Charlie Appleby's charge get back on track, but LONGSIDER gets the vote. David Lanigan's colt was a promising fourth on his debut over a mile at Lingfield last month and could improve for the longer trip here. Sydney Siren could edge out Cassidy Jo to be the pick of the newcomers.

Valentine Mist was only beaten a length into third over C&D on Boxing Day and is interesting off just 1lb higher, while Born To Reason kept on well once headed over track and trip last time and looks capable of another bold bid from the front. THUNDEROAD gets the vote, though, as he has been in solid form over further of late and the handicapper may have taken a chance in dropping him 1lb for his latest fourth at Lingfield.
