Al Dancer wasn't disgraced when fourth in a strangely-run Wayward Lad at Kempton over Christmas, but he was a little disappointing prior to that when finding one too good at Cheltenham and he needs to settle better in order to fulfil his potential in this sphere. Le Patriote makes his chase debut after failing to beat a rival home in the International Hurdle last month, and this could be between Lisp and Nicky Henderson's MISTER FISHER. The selection finished just over two lengths ahead of Alan King's charge at Warwick in November, and the strength of his Cheltenham success a few weeks later against the 146-rated Good Boy Bobby looks better than Lisp's odds-on triumph at Plumpton last month.

MAHLERMADE ran his best race for quite some time when third at Wincanton on his most recent outing and must be of serious interest here for a trainer who usually does well on this card. The seven-year-old is at his best on a sound terrain, and Alexander Thorne's 7lb claim should really help matters too. Very First Time's winning run was ended at Market Rasen on Boxing Day, although he should appreciate this drop in trip, while Agamemmon, a Sedgefield scorer when last witnessed, is also noted despite an 8lb rise.

BOSS MAN FRED hasn't put a foot wrong in three hurdle starts thus far, following on from a point-to-point victory last March, and he produced a career-best performance when landing a C&D handicap by nine lengths last time. There looks to be plenty more to come from Dan Skelton's charge and he could take this class rise in his stride. Champagne Well has finished runner-up in Grade 2 races at Cheltenham the last twice and he looks sure to give another good account, with Ramses De Teillee an interesting player switching back to hurdles after wind surgery.

Last year's winner, and four-time course scorer, Lady Buttons is sure to have plenty of supporters and will almost certainly be involved at the finish. However, cutting back to an extended 2m and conceding 4lb to a mare five years her junior in FLORESSA is a big enough ask. The latter, a Listed winner at Newbury when last sighted, looks to be improving all the time and her sharp turn of foot at the business end could find out the popular mare. Irish Roe finished third in this 12 months ago and may collect another bronze medal.

It could pay to side with DINGO DOLLAR, who has a decent record at the South Yorkshire track (won and finished second in four visits) and ran right up to somewhere near his best when fifth in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury latest. A first-time visor (worn again) certainly did him no harm that day and he should be competitive off an unchanged mark of 146. Despite reportedly losing his right fore shoe, Azzerti ran well in this grade at Ascot five weeks ago and he merits respect off 2lb lower, while last-start winners Burbank, Ravenhill Road and Fingerontheswitch are other names to note.

KITTY HALL stepped up on her promising debut performance when scoring readily at Carlisle last month and, with further improvement on the cards, she might be able to follow up under a penalty. Burren Walk was surrounded by a number of subsequent winners when third on her debut at Warwick 11 months ago and she warrants plenty of respect representing a stable that historically do well in this sphere, while the Queen's Hamilton's Fantasy and Uptown Lady, who was second between the flags in October, are both worthy of a market check at least.
