UK Horse Racing Tips: Fairyhouse

Early Doors, second in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle last season before winning the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham, has shaped with promise on both his chase starts so far and must enter the reckoning. ALLAHO gets the nod, though, as he's entitled to have improved for his seasonal/chase bow at Leopardstown over Christmas when a close second and boasts strong novice hurdle form, which includes a third-placed effort in the Albert Bartlett. Milan Native is another to consider.

SPARE BRAKES is 8lb higher than when last winning over fences, but his latest second over timber off 5lb lower suggests he's capable of landing a race of this nature off his current mark. His Clonmel exploits also confirm he's in good nick and the 10-year-old gets the nod ahead of From Eden, who is 2-4 at this track, and Roconga, who has dropped to an attractive rating.

WITNESS OF FASHION chased home an unexposed rival in Castle Oliver over 2m5f here (Turndownthevolume fourth) and, likely to appreciate going back out in distance, the veteran could strike off an unchanged mark of 88. There was just half a length splitting Ask And Answer and Ask Mary when first and second respectively over 3m at Navan and both merit respect again. Persian Wind is also shortlisted in a tricky event.

Willie Mullins has won five of the last seven runnings of this contest and appears to have a strong hand again. Colreevy and Yukon Lil both boast excellent bumper form and arrive following easy maiden hurdle victories, but preference is for DOLCITA. She looks to follow in the footsteps of Laurina, another Closutton inmate who won the same maiden hurdle at Tramore before landing this race in 2018, and it's a case of the sky's the limit for the French import at this stage. Of the non-Mullins runners, Minella Melody has a definite chance representing last year's winning connections.

Jon Snow has acquitted himself really well in a couple of warm events since joining Willie Mullins, and the ex-French five-year-old will be winning at a decent level sooner rather than later. It may still pay to take a chance on the fitness of SANTA ROSSA, though. Dermot McLoughlin's Grade 2 NH Flat winner made the frame in the big Aintree bumper before holding her own at the top table at Punchestown, and she is an exciting mare. The Jessica Harrington pair Exit Poll and Lynwood Gold aren't without a squeak either.

EPSON DU HOUX attracted the cash at Tramore's New Year's Day fixture, probably because he showed up for a long way on his jumping bow at Fairyhouse, and although he ultimately disappointed, he is worth another chance. Golden Nomad is also on something of a retrieval mission, having had to settle for fourth when favourite at Naas, but he is the obvious danger. Man On The Run has shown potential too and he rounds out the shortlist.

Gavin Brouder got a great tune out of Moyode Gold over 2m4f at this circuit recently and she certainly wasn't stopping at the finish so the rise in distance for her handicap bow looks a wise move. Well Joey reverts from the bigger obstacles on a comparatively lenient mark but so does HIGHEST BENEFIT, who completed a Tramore brace prior to claiming third here. He is 19lb lower in this sphere and is expected to take full advantage. Thurles winner Ahgetawayoutadat has to be considered too.
