Sarasota Star wasn't far behind subsequent Listed scorer Langer Dan on his hurdling bow at Ludlow and he merits respect, while Black Abbey, Ragnar and Guena Des Mottes add further spice to the race.

FALBERTO built on a couple of placed efforts in bumpers when chasing home subsequent winner Beaufort West on his hurdling debut over 2m at Chepstow. This step up in trip is likely to suit the five-year-old and he looks sure to mount a bold bid under top conditional Connor Brace. Quart De Garde was beaten a neck on his UK debut around here and is likely to show up well again, while Kelso runner-up Cool Country also merits shortlist inclusion.

The form of ELIXER's runner-up effort here over Christmas took a timely boost when the fourth struck at Newcastle on Tuesday and Barry Murtagh's charge is fancied to go close off a 1lb higher mark. Dropping back in trip is likely to suit Veiled Secret, who only found one too good on his chasing debut over an extended 2m4f at Musselburgh. Brian Hughes gets the leg up again so he is likely to prove popular, while Getaway North, who finished just behind the selection last time, also warrants respect.

Reve was another to get on the scoresheet over track and trip when last seen and conditional rider Patrick Cowley negates most of the 6lb rise handed for that win with his 5lb claim. Enfin Phil steps up in trip following a comfortable success over 2m4f here earlier this month. However, this could go the way of TEESCOMPONENTS LAD, who has dropped to his last winning mark and is now tried in first-time cheekpieces, with the booking of Brian Hughes in the saddle a huge positive.

Another stepping up in trip is Bering Upsun, who was sent off favourite at Hexham last month and Brian Hughes keeps the faith in the saddle.

Irish raider ALOHAMORA won as she liked over hurdles at Fairyhouse on her most recent outing and, having been successful over fences at Limerick over Christmas, is fancied to claim further prize money for trainer James Nash. The six-year-old is clearly versatile and is preferred to Molly Childers, who returned to a bit of form when fourth at Kempton in a competitive handicap over the smaller obstacles when last seen. Same Circus is on a winning mark but needs more.

Global Anchor caught the eye when third at Huntingdon in October and is also worth noting wearing cheekpieces for the first time.
