Caledonia Laird went some way to putting a couple of moderate displays behind him when fourth at Chelmsford and there is life in the old boy yet, but BILLYOAKES might prove too tough a nut to crack back at his beloved Wolverhampton. Oliie Pears' eight-year-old does most of his racing here and will appreciate the return after struggling at Lingfield. Bold Decision did some good late work at Kempton, and Lyrical Ballad also has to enter the equation.
Prediction : 1st Billyoakes 2nd Caledonia Laird 3rd Bold Decision

Pearl Spectre went under by less than a length at Kempton, with Air Of York back in fifth, and a repeat of that performance would give him every chance, but he has won just once in the best part of two years so is passed over in favour of ROCKESBURY. David Loughnane's gelding's recent strike-rate isn't much better but he found only one too strong when favourite at this venue and will relish the cut back in distance.
Prediction : 1st Rockesbury 2nd Pearl Spectre 3rd Air Of York

After being turned over at odds-on on her Kempton introduction, BUY ME BACK attracted far less market support for her second appearance at Newcastle. She produced an encouraging effort to make the frame, though, and it will be disappointing if she isn't too good for this lot. Divine Connection would appear to be the only logical threat following her course second, assuming the newcomer White Face isn't above average.
Prediction : 1st Buy Me Back 2nd Divine Connection 3rd White Face

18:30 Wolverhampton

COMEATCHOO broke through at the 19th attempt when successful over this trip at Kempton, for which he has been raised 3lb. That might underestimate the merit of the performance and he can follow up with his confidence buoyed. Bezzas Lad was sent off favourite on his debut for Tony Carroll and will appreciate dropping back from 6f after racing freely and managing only fifth. Lady Melody has shown bits and pieces of promise in novice company and should step forward now going handicapping.
Prediction : 1st Comeatchoo 2nd Bezzas Lad 3rd Lady Melody

Another Touch tried the all-weather relatively late in life, but has been revitalised by it and made it three from three on artificial surfaces when accounting for Via Serendipity in a Fast-Track Qualifier at Newcastle. The rise from a mile isn't a problem, but he will do well to get to grips with OH THIS IS US. Richard Hannon's grand servant held his own in Group company last year and has been freshened up in preparation for the defence of his Mile title on Good Friday.
Prediction : 1st Oh This Is Us 2nd Another Touch 3rd Via Serendipity

19:30 Wolverhampton

BOND ANGEL sprung a 25-1 Lingfield surprise just before the turn of the year but has proved it was no fluke by following up twice at Southwell. The David Evans-trained mare appears well suited by these conditions and should be able to complete the four-timer. Debbonair had been there or thereabouts until struggling on the Southwell Fibresand, but better is expected back on Tapeta and now that he drops out of handicap company. Windsor Cross rounds out the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Bond Angel 2nd Debbonair 3rd Windsor Cross

20:00 Wolverhampton

SHERIFFMUIR has been costly to follow but surely a race such as this is within his compass. To be fair to John Gosden's colt, he has taken on some decent opposition and probably won't need to improve in order to break through here. The well-related Opportunist will have given connections some encouragement when fifth on his Lingfield debut and heads a list of dangers that also includes the bumper winner Fair Star.
Prediction : 1st Sheriffmuir 2nd Opportunist 3rd Fair Star

20:30 Wolverhampton

EMBER'S GLOW has been holding his own in handicap company and the last time he dropped into a race of this nature, he was triumphant over course and distance. He seems the safest option, although Molliana strung together a sequence in Jersey prior to a satisfactory fourth in a Southwell handicap. N Over J has been disappointing since joining Mick Appleby but will pop up sooner or later, and Kaisan is interesting on his return from the sidelines.
Prediction : 1st Embers Glow 2nd Molliana 3rd N Over J
