UK Horse Racing Tips: Market Rasen

THE MIGHTY DON looks to leave a fall in the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase behind him in what looks a much easier contest and the form of his earlier chasing appearances suggest he may take plenty of beating here. Monbeg Zena went into the notebook when comfortably scoring at Southwell on his first start for Olly Murphy in December 2018, but hasn't been since and now switches to fences. Colorado Doc did little wrong when second on his chasing debut at Hereford last month and now steps up in trip following some fine efforts in defeat this season.

BLUE HUSSAR was still full of running at the finish when winning well over track and trip last month and Micky Hammond's nine-year-old is backed to follow up off a 6lb higher rating. Landofsmiles wasn't beaten far when third off this mark at Hereford in December and could build on that to provide a huge threat to the selection in first-time cheekpieces. Olly Murphy won this 12 months ago but his Fresh New Dawn, a winner at Huntingdon on his penultimate outing, may be in the grasp of the handicapper at present, while Cronins Hill is worth a market check on his handicap debut.

BALGEMMOIS got off the mark over fences here at the third attempt last month and appeals as the type who has plenty more to offer in this sphere. A 7lb rise in the weights might not be enough to halt him as there is clearly something about this track which brings out the best in him (also placed over hurdles here). His supporters will be pleased to see James Bowen keep the ride and he can get the better of Cuban Pete, who boasts a similar profile, and Smuggler's Blues.

Mcfabulous was a top-class bumper horse last season, winning well at Newbury before scoring in the Grade 2 at Aintree's Grand National meeting, but Paul Nicholls' charge has disappointed in two starts over timber this term. Attempting to successfully give the son of Milan 10lb will be no easy task, but at least we know HIJACK has taken to hurdles with back-to-back Ludlow triumphs proving the Nicky Henderson-trained gelding is an above-average type. Hometown Boy brings decent form to the table, but Tip Top Cat looks up against it.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE returned to winning ways over timber at Fakenham last time and is expected to remain competitive now returned to fences as she was touched off by just a neck off 1lb lower on her last start over the larger obstacles. Vue Cavaliere is creeping back down the ratings and wouldn't be winning out of turn, while Lady Master has viable place claims if building on her recent third at Leicester.

SERMANDO opened his hurdling account over a similar trip at Huntingdon last time and, given his unexposed profile, there is a good chance he can defy a 4lb rise to follow up. Starsky took a step in the right direction when third over 2m3f at Taunton last time and is the one expected to put up most resistance. The pick of the remainder may be Flash De Clerval now he makes his handicap debut.
