Latent Heat was only beaten by a length when fourth on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton and should be thereabouts if proving as effective on Fibresand, while penalised course scorer The Eagle's Nest, who drops back from 1m, and recent track-and-trip runner-up The Retriever also command respect.

LION TOWER stepped up markedly on his Wolverhampton debut when scoring readily here second time up. The well-bred son of Exceed And Excel showed a real liking for Fibresand on that occasion and looks up to winning this novice heat under a penalty, with further improvement expected. Broken Rifle will be out to put his superior experience to good use and he gets 7lb from the selection, while Big Impact improved from his first to second start on turf last year and is interesting on his all-weather, seasonal and stable bow.

MOSAKHAR is progressive and makes plenty of appeal in this handicap despite carrying top weight. With two wins from as many starts at the track, both over this trip, Ollie Pears is getting a real tune out of this Dawn Approach gelding and the four-year-old will likely force Directory to settle for another minor role here. Brains arrives in great nick and is respected, but has been doing his winning at Kempton and Chelmsford and isn't certain to reproduce that form on Fibresand.

Assuming this surface will suit the son of Dutch Art on his Fibresand debut, connections have found him another very winnable opening. Decision Maker won over track and trip two starts ago and can be forgiven a lacklustre Newcastle performance last time, while chances are also given to Six Til Twelve and Aquarius.

ARABIAN KING won over C&D last week with plenty up his sleeve, so James Ferguson is probably wise in getting him out quickly under a penalty. The son of New Approach is lightly raced for this yard and likely has a lot more to give at this level. Motahassen is yet to prove himself over this trip but is a course winner and shouldn't be overlooked, while Cape Hideaway is another expected to give the selection something to think about.
