CALVA D'AUGE found the step up to Grade 1 company too much when fourth in the Tolworth at Sandown but made amends when dropped in class at Wincanton at the end of last month. Despite giving 12lb and upwards to the opposition, the five-year-old can defy a double penalty to get the better of Fraser Island, who has been given a lofty rating for what he has achieved to date, and Milreu Has, who is likely to benefit from a stiffer test of stamina than he encountered at Fakenham on debut.
Prediction : 1st Calva DAuge 2nd Fraser Island 3rd Milreu Has

BREAKING WAVES got his career back on track after a couple of disappointing efforts when scoring on his second try over fences at Exeter. Noel Willliams' gelding benefited from the application of cheekpieces and remains open to further progression if the headgear has the same desired effect. The Flying Sofa has kept some decent company this season and is respected after his victory at Fakenham, while Moabit has been given a chance by the handicapper on his first run since November 2018.
Prediction : 1st Breaking Waves 2nd The Flying Sofa 3rd Moabit

Paul Nicholls' horses are flying and the eye is drawn to Ostuni, who has been off the track for a year but was heading in the right direction before that. However, HAWTHORN COTTAGE took advantage of a lenient opening mark to score on her handicap debut at Doncaster and with this trip looking the optimum for Amy Murphy's mare, she could follow up off an 8lb higher mark. Chill Factor is interesting following a spell in the pointing field, with course regular Ding Ding and Darebin, who is returning to hurdles, others to note.
Prediction : 1st Hawthorn Cottage 2nd Ostuni 3rd Darebin

WENCESLAUS arrives in top form and made it three wins in four when romping to a clear victory over course and distance last time. The eight-year-old has been hit with a 10lb rise for that success, but he wasn't stopping at the finish on that occasion and will relish conditions once again here. Finnegan's Garden was a handy winner at Lingfield last month and is entitled to plenty of respect. The first-time blinkered Le Coeur Net and Elisezmoi, having his first run since wind surgery for a shrewd local operation, are others to note.
Prediction : 1st Wenceslaus 2nd Finnegans Garden 3rd Le Coeur Net

THE TIN MINER returned to winning ways over 2m4f here last month and a 2lb rise for that success appears to be very fair. The step up in trip should not be a problem, having won at this distance over fences, and the nine-year-old merits the utmost respect. Ask Catkin struggled when upped in grade last time but this is a more realistic target, while Velvet Cognac completes the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st The Tin Miner 2nd Ask Catkin 3rd Velvet Cognac

In a moderate race to close the card the marginal preference is for SHADOW'S GIRL, who has been disappointing in her last couple of starts but she was capable of winning a similarly weak contest at Chepstow in November. Dylan's Sea Song has been out of her depth in novice company but merits respect on her handicap debut, while Lady Chartreuse is the pick of the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Shadows Girl 2nd Dylans Sea Song 3rd Lady Chartreuse
