Elgin won this race two years ago and he has to be considered once again, although the lengthy layoff has to be a concern. With that in mind, preference is for QUEL DESTIN, who bounced back to form when winning the Contenders Hurdle at Sandown earlier in the month. Song For Someone makes plenty of appeal at these weights and he arguably arrives here on the back of a career-best effort at Ascot four weeks ago.

Storm Arising has yet to run a bad race in four visits to this track (winning once) and he is likely to give another good account, but LARKBARROW LAD shades the verdict for Philip Hobbs and Sean Houlihan. Similarly to the former, the seven-year-old boasts a consistent profile and he might well improve for his comeback fifth in Listed company at Kempton, where he was having his first start since undergoing wind surgery. Dropped in class off a 2lb lower mark, he should run a big race. Midnightreferendum and Midnight Midge are other names to note in a competitive handicap.

ROBYNDZONE certainly wasn't winning out of turn over the extended 2m7f at Huntingdon last month and, with Max Kendrick's valuable claim easing the 7lb punishment, he might be able to follow up. Putdecashonthedash had been knocking on the door prior to falling at Sedgefield and the application of cheekpieces could help him keep fully focused on the job in hand, while Battle Of Ideas, Tractor Fred and Findusatgorcombe are all better than showing last time.

WORTHY FARM has been in good order at this venue lately, landing back-to-back distance victories since sporting blinkers. Paul Nicholls' charge has been raised 7lb for his latter success, 16 days ago, but may well have further improvement in the pipeline in this grade. Abolitionist is worth a market check now sporting first-time blinkers, while Regal Flow is of interest on his close second in a veterans' event at Sandown on his penultimate outing. Like The Sound, who also holds an entry at Ascot today, would be worth considering if lining up.

Neil Mulholland's SANDYMOUNT ROSE has shown promise on both starts since switching to hurdles and is expected to benefit from the move into handicap company off an opening mark of 109. Et Apres Thou has place claims if building on his 2m3f Taunton fifth last month and can fight it out for the silver medal with Ostuni, who had a pipeopener at Plumpton recently, and Colin Tizzard's handicap debutant Rarest Diamond.
