Sevarano missed out on a hat-trick when sent off favourite for a Newbury handicap last time and the versatile seven-year-old is unlikely to be affected by heavy ground on his return to the novice ranks. Igor was another to try his hand in a handicap recently and now drops back in distance, while Ulverston was second over slightly further here last month and could go under the radar a little. However, this could be the perfect opportunity for DANNY KIRWAN to get off the mark over timber. He was last sighted chasing home Angels Breath in an Ascot Grade 2 and the step up in trip will suit the point-to-point winner, who also beat Pym in a bumper, on his reappearance.

Course-and-distance winner KANSAS CITY CHIEF was on the scoresheet at Taunton on his penultimate start, and having only been denied by a head by the well-handicapped Phoenix Way at Huntingdon last time, arrives here in the very best of form. Fellow track-and-trip victor Bryden Boy was third at Newcastle recently, with Off The Hook a further three lengths adrift in fourth. Rath An Iuir impressed when landing a novice contest at the same venue in December and is interesting now handicapping, while it is notable that Brian Hughes teams up with Toi Storey, despite the seven-year-old being handed a 12lb rise for his comfortable win at Catterick over Christmas.

ALLART holds a couple of entries in the Grade 1 novice contests at the Cheltenham Festival and he is likely to book his ticket to Prestbury Park if in anything like the form which saw the six-year-old run out an impressive winner at Ludlow last month. Youracert got off the mark over hurdles at Market Rasen in the summer following wind surgery and could provide the biggest danger, while point-to-point winner Red Nika may have plenty more to come under Rules.

MY OLD GOLD built on her return effort at Carlisle behind Lostintranslation when scoring in a C&D handicap off a 3lb lower rating in December. Despite being a 10-year-old, she is lightly raced for her age and could have more to offer on just her seventh outing over fences. Former Cheltenham Festival hero Missed Approach is fairly handicapped if ready to go on his return after an injury, while Burtons Well, who sports cheekpieces for the first time, and Jonniesofa are both capable of getting involved if bouncing back to form.

CAPTAIN CATTISTOCK ran on into fourth at Taunton on his hunter chase debut for owner/rider David Maxwell last month but the step back up in trip on a more galloping track is likely to play more to his strengths. The seven-year-old can make amends on this occasion at the expense of Just A Par, who placed in a point-to-point at Bangor-On-Dee, and Mustmeetalady, who was ahead of the selection two starts ago but subsequently proved to be disappointing at Wincanton.

ADRIMEL could not have won any easier on his Rules debut at Uttoxeter just before Christmas when sauntering clear to score by 26 lengths having cost 280,000 pounds at the Goffs UK Aintree sale last April. He was considered for a Listed bumper at Newbury earlier in the month, until being withdrawn on the day, and Tom Lacey's gelding is unlikely to be fazed by a 7lb penalty. The Edgar Wallace warrants respect based on his third at Exeter in December, while Slap Dash Harry, who represents the stable that landed this contest with Black Op in 2017, and Roussimoff, who is from the family of Grand National hero Ballabriggs, are newcomers of interest.
