UK Horse Racing Tips: Sedgefield

SIGN OF WAR won with something up his sleeve off 87 over fences at Chepstow last month and then bolted up off 5lb higher over hurdles here last time. This versatile son of Oscar reverts to the larger obstacles in search of a three-timer and is difficult to get away from. Mount Oliver will put up most resistance if building on his latest Exeter second, while Dontdelay completes the shortlist.

It will be disappointing if ADICCI doesn't get back to winning ways here. The Plumpton scorer couldn't justify favouritism under a penalty at Wetherby when second last time but that form doesn't look too bad as the winner has since finished a neck second at Bangor to a highly-progressive Donald McCain inmate. McCain may know where he stands with Road To Reward and Heartbreak Kid on that form, but the latter has struggled in two starts over timber thus far.

BERTIE BLAKE has relished this track and a similar distance over hurdles of late, racking up back-to-back victories in the hands of Thomas Dowson, and Philip Kirby's seven-year-old switches to fences as he looks to land a hat-trick. His chase mark is just 3lb higher than his most recent success over timber and the seven-year-old could still be ahead of the assessor. Miss Zip impressed when scoring over course and distance on the same card and is respected despite an 8lb rise, while Detatched is interesting stepping up in trip on this first outing over fences.

Ben Haslam looks to have a solid hand in this with Laskadine and Demi Sang, who are both sliding in the ratings to eye-catching marks. However, preference is for course winer INFORMATEUR, who hasn't been disgraced in two Haydock outings since scoring at Uttoxeter in November and the form of his most recent effort reads nicely. Juge Et Parti is only 2lb higher than his last victory and is another with a chance if back to his best.

MCGINTY'S DREAM produced his best effort for some time when third over an extended 3m at Ayr and he should go close off this unchanged mark of 79. Vereina had been in fine form prior to blundering and unseating her rider at Leicester and she probably deserves another chance, while the top-rated Sutter's Mill also merits consideration on his return to hurdling duty.

ROXYFET won this contest in both 2016 and 2019 and Micky Hammond's course specialist might be able to make it a trio of victories in the race. The 10-year-old can be forgiven his latest effort, when found to have an irregular heartbeat post race, and his three performances at this track immediately before that offer plenty of encouragement. Elixer has struck the crossbar on his last couple of starts and can show up well again, while Frankie Ballou and Jimmyjames also hold claims.

OSCARS LEADER looked on good terms with himself when returning to winning ways over a similar trip at Bangor earlier in the month and is expected to take an 8lb rise in his stride and land a quick double. Kauto D'Amour turned in a solid performance when striking at Newcastle last time and should go well off this 3lb higher mark, while Xpo Universel makes some appeal on his C&D romp on his penultimate start, for all he's 9lb higher in the ratings now.
