SPRINGFIELD FOX won by 12 lengths on his debut over fences at Chepstow late last month and even a 10lb rise for that success may not be enough to stop him from taking this contest as well. Over To Sam is another who arrives here on the back of a victory and he is an obvious threat to the selection. Virginia Chick, runner-up to Over To Sam at Plumpton, and Ocean Cove complete the shortlist.

DANNY KIRWAN has been off the track for a long time but Paul Nicholls' seven-year-old is hard to oppose, having chased home Angels Breath in a Grade 2 at Ascot when last seen. Big Bresil, a 170,000-pound purchase, displayed some promise on his Rules debut here last month and he is entitled to improve for that experience. Others to note are the Colin Tizzard pair of Honest Exchange and Butterwick Brook.

NO REMATCH had plenty in hand when winning at Ffos Las late last month and he is hard to oppose, despite a 7lb hike in the ratings. Ashfield Paddy made a successful handicap debut at Haydock two starts ago and he arguably performed even better when runner-up at Ascot subsequently. Despite a lengthy layoff, Orchard Thieves edges out Donnie Brasco to be the pick of the remainder.

KILCONNY BRIDGE makes her handicap debut off a fair mark of 114 for Anthony Honeyball and could take some stopping. Already a winner in point-to-point and bumper company, the six-year-old landed the odds over 2m7f here and could have too much staying power for Lisa De Vassy, whose only career successes to date have come on the Flat in her native France. Llantara finished second behind a good yardstick at Uttoxeter and is also taken seriously.

Dawson City deserves a mention having won the last couple of renewals, and he certainly ran well enough off a 1lb higher mark at Ascot to suggest that he can be competitive again. Christmas In April was turned over at odds-on latest but remains in good form, while Perfect Candidate merits respect following solid win and placed efforts at Haydock. The vote, however, goes to ICE COOL CHAMPS, who bolted up at Wetherby on his first start for Kerry Lee and looks capable of defying a 10lb hike.

MARTHA BRAE lost little in defeat when second in a driving finish at Newbury and the fourth has franked that form by winning since. Cutting back from that extended 2m4f trip certainly won't bother the five-year-old and she shades the verdict ahead of Whitehotchillifili, who is rated just 2lb inferior and didn't appear to last home when third over 2m5f at Wincanton. She previously dotted over an extended 1m7f at the same track and this test should suit. A Perfect Gift looks next best.

SHELDON shaped with tons of promise when third in a hot Newbury bumper on debut (second bolted up next time) and with normal improvement anticipated, he is the one they all have to beat. Mocacreme Has attracted plenty of support ahead of his debut over C&D and ran on nicely into third. That experience certainly won't have been lost on him and he is likely to take a step forward, while Majestic Merlin and Sam Barton are two interesting newcomers.
