UK Horse Racing Tips: Newcastle

Show Promise ran out an emphatic winner in a novice hurdle at Catterick last month, having filled the runner-up spot on three occasions in bumpers including a couple at this venue, one of which came on the all-weather. He evidently acts around here and is in good form, but it could be worth taking him on with GINFLIX. Tom Lacey's French import won a bumper well at Argentan in June and could be capable of following up. Sedgefield third Presentandcounting and Kelso second Halcyon Days are others to note.

SNOOKERED had a fantastic end to 2019, winning four hurdles on the bounce and increasing his rating 33lb in the process. He has struggled in two starts since then, but looks a cut above these rivals. The Resdev Way hasn't run over hurdles since 2018, but has plenty of recent all-weather Flat experience to call on and was only beaten a length off a mark of 73 in a staying handicap over C&D. Smart Lass has claims after running well on the level here in the autumn, while Fort De L'Ocean has been on the premises in low-grade handicap chases of late and is interesting in this.

ON THE BLIND SIDE has been competitive in decent handicap chases this term and, though he lacks experience in this sort of contest, he could strike on his first ever race that doesn't involve obstacles. River Frost was a decent Flat horse in France and has been holding his own in useful handicaps over hurdles and fences this season, while Musselburgh chase winner I'm To Blame and Wetherby regular Niven are worth a second glance.

Siannes Star bolted up in a handicap hurdle at Perth in April last year and followed up with victory at Market Rasen a month later. He is considered providing he's fully tuned up after a break, while Golden Town's hat-trick bid was foiled at Perth in July but he appeared to be progressive prior to that. Seaborough and Senor Lombardy have claims on the pick of their hurdling form, but preference is for LUCKY LOVER BOY. Oliver Greenall's gelding was pulled up when last tried over timber at Huntingdon, but has since won a Flat handicap over C&D in good style and could follow that up here.

SHE'SONEOFOUROWN lost little in defeat when second on her debut at Wetherby last month and the step up to two miles could bring about further improvement in the youngster representing a yard with a good record in this sphere. Courtandbould caught the eye when second at Lingfield in November and has added experience from the pointing field to call upon. Musselburgh runner-up Empty Quarter and Brian Ellison's Tupelo Mississippi are others to note.

LOUIS' VAC POUCH is interesting on his first outing for Philip Kirby and having placed behind Secret Investor in a Grade 2 over fences last spring, could have too much class for his rivals here. Special Prep looked to be on an upward curve over the larger obstacles before pulling up when last seen and is worth a market check following a long time off the track, while Trapper Peak has done well since joining Justin Landy this autumn and is respected.

DARK LOCHNAGAR was an early faller on his hurdles debut at Wetherby, but was a handy performer on the level before that and he could take advantage of a lack of obstacles here. Winfola was another to fail to complete when tackling timber for the first time, but her form in France before that has to provide plenty of optimism. Useful dual-purpose performers Whiskey And Water and Zabeel Star are others to keep an eye on.
