GRAND ROI's sole defeat since arriving from France came when he was fourth in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham, beaten less than a length, and he looked the part on his jumping bow at Fakenham. He didn't beat much there but appears to have a bright future and can see off Scorched Earth, who backed up a Catterick victory with a decent fourth at Newbury over the Christmas period. Manucci has twice been trounced by Triumph fancy Goshen, but could beat Catch The Cuban in the battle for third.

After registering a hard-fought success at Leicester, Go Steady didn't run too badly for third in the Wincanton event won by Ibleo. He may find another Venetia Williams inmate too good here, though, because LITTLE GINGE improved considerably for the switch to handicap company over the smaller obstacles and he should step forward again for trying fences. Ballyart has a visor applied but possibly needs further, while Vicenzo Mio isn't that well treated in this sphere.

DESARAY GIRL has been in fine order in recent months, following up her Listed victory at Haydock in December with a 13-length romp under a penalty in a novice hurdle at Sedgefield last time. Philip Kirby has worked wonders with Lady Buttons and could have another smart mare on his hands here. Deja Vue failed to see out an extended 3m at Haydock last time and has solid claims on these terms now cutting back in trip. Easy Wetherby scorer Emmas Joy is another with a solid chance at the weights.

Truckers Cailin attracted support at Fakenham last time and possibly deserves another chance switching from fences to hurdles. The pick of the remainder may be Sissinghurst, who is having his second run for Tom Symonds and drops in class after struggling at Doncaster.

Top And Drop was only just denied when last seen and she might prove to be the main danger, ahead of Molly Childers.

Sir Ivan was a 16-1 hurdles winner at Wincanton when last seen, but he hasn't been the most consistent throughout his career and left the impression that he wouldn't be certain to follow up. Bigmartre has had a wind operation and has dropped to a tempting mark, but a more reliable option might be SPRINGTOWN LAKE. Second on heavy ground at Chepstow over Christmas, the eight-year-old is 2lb below his last winning mark and could thrive under a likely front-running, aggressive ride here.

Dan Skelton is 7-27 with bumper runners here over the last five seasons and could add to that record with BALLYCALLAN FAME. Second between the flags in Ireland, the winner of that race sold for 90,000 pounds at the sales last year, and she looks sure to go close on her NH debut. Lady Shirocco is interesting now under Rules for Ian Williams, who has also enjoyed some bumper success here, while La Reine Poutine is a half-sister to five winners and impressed when second on debut at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve.
