UK Horse Racing Tips: Wolverhampton

SURF WALK shaped with promise when second on debut in a Polytrack bumper at Lingfield last month and is expected to step up on that initial effort, thus helping him go one better. The main danger may be Li'l Sebastian, who should be all the wiser for the experience gained on debut at Newcastle. Others to consider in an open heat include Fox's Socks, who attracted support on debut at Warwick, and Fakenham bumper winner Litigate.

PERFECT PREDATOR landed a bumper at Taunton last season and has been consistent over hurdles more recently. Alan King's charge gets a tentative vote in a trappy heat in view of his reliability. Getariver won two bumpers last year and it would come as no surprise to see her leave behind a disappointing hurdles effort at Southwell latest. Paul Nicholls' French import Glajou is also worth monitoring in the betting market.

PETITE JACK is interesting in this sphere considering he's a talented all-weather performer on the Flat and proven at Listed level. He might have too much speed for his rivals. If his stamina gives way in the closing stages, though, useful hurdler Corrany and Dan Skelton's Longhouse Sale, who is having his first start since undergoing wind surgery, could feasibly pick up the pieces.

Peter Atkinson's star mare IRISH ROE must have a fantastic chance here judged on her second to Lady Buttons in a Doncaster Grade 2 hurdle last month. Lough Derg Spirit is interesting on his first start for Paul Nicholls following plenty of time off the track and having undergone wind surgery, while Hatcher wouldn't be without a chance if putting his best foot forward.

BIRDS OF PREY was fourth in the 2018 November Handicap off a mark of 92 when last seen on the Flat and he is clearly the one they all have to beat in this contest. Mandalayan hit the crossbar over hurdles at Catterick three weeks ago and he should be in the mix again. Others to note are Canyon City, Prabeni and Prince Khurram.

SOLOMON GREY has been a bit disappointing so far this season, albeit often highly tried, but this drop in grade could easily inspire a return to form for the eight-year-old. Highway Companion won well at Musselburgh last month and he has to be of some interest, although that only came off a mark of 109. The shortlist is completed by Nefyn Bay and Rhythm Is A Dancer.

RED FORCE ONE was second in a Listed handicap hurdle at Ascot in November and he was a useful performer on the Flat a couple of years ago. With that in mind, the five-year-old is very hard to oppose in a race of this nature. The Dancing Poet won well on his hurdling debut last month and he could prove to be the main threat to the selection, ahead of Wolf Of Windlesham.
