NUMERO UNO showed some potential very early on in his Flat career when with Martyn Meade, only to lose his way. The switch to Tim Vaughan didn't immediately revitalise him but there was a bit more to like about his latest Wetherby effort and he could be nicely treated on his handicap hurdle debut. Richard Johnson makes a welcome return to the saddle on Made For You, with Olly Murphy's charge likely to benefit from last month's Warwick comeback. The application of blinkers doesn't need to spark too much improvement in Missesgeejay, while Western Lass might have a say if over her Carlisle mishap.

Derek Fox gets the leg-up on Shanroe Street, but maybe Lucinda Russell's best hope is MISFITS. The 10-year-old could never get competitive over an extreme distance at Bangor, but the application of cheekpieces could wake him up and he has a decent record at this venue. Boric's best days are behind him but he has a chance if his latest Newcastle display is forgiven, with similar comments applicable to Walkin In The Rain, who pulled up at Ayr.

Methodtothemadness has been desperately disappointing since going handicapping, although he can't be written off just yet, especially now that a tongue tie is fitted. Overcourt is progressing steadily but the vote goes to fellow handicap newcomer IONA LAD. The Tim Vaughan-trained five-year-old hasn't been seen since chasing home a rival rated in the 130s last summer, but his fitness might well be worth risking.

King's Wharf has had a wind operation since finishing fourth at Kelso in November but it remains to be seen how much improvement the procedure can get out of an 11-year-old who hasn't won for the best part of three years. Ubaltique actually won that Kelso contest and while he is another in the twilight of his career, he is still a force to be reckoned with at this sort of level. CELTIC FLAMES is no spring chicken himself, but he was a solid third off this mark last time and a reproduction of that effort could well be good enough.

DUBAI GUEST was never a factor on his first taste of competitive action at Warwick, but the experience won't be lost on him and he is fancied to give Richard Johnson a winner on his return from injury. Away At Dawn offered plenty of encouragement when runner-up in an Irish point-to-point and should give Olly Murphy's gelding the most to worry about, although plenty of respect is given to Isle Of Aron too.
