UK Horse Racing Tips: Wolverhampton

KLIPPERTY KLOPP won at Newcastle two starts ago and the step back up in distance could see Antony Brittain's gelding back to winning ways with the stable still in decent form. It would be no surprise to see Red Gunner bounce back from a disappointing effort over C&D last month with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle, while Perfect Soldier's recent efforts at Newcastle can see him enter the reckoning.

Thawry bounced back to winning ways over C&D at the start of the month but his strike-rate of 2-35 tempers enthusiasm in his attempt to back up that performance. The vote, therefore, goes to JANUS as he got the better of Highway One at Lingfield two starts ago before going down by a neck at the same course on Wednesday. The five-year-old can confirm that effort despite the quick turnaround, while Nicky Baby's recent consistency warrants him a place on the shortlist.

TATHMEEN kept on strongly to win over 5f at Newcastle last time and shouldn't be fazed by the return to 6f, over which he has won in the past, as he bids to complete a hat-trick. Anthony Brittain's charge does have a wide draw to overcome, however, and if it proves to be his downfall then Storm Over, who struck in this grade at Chelmsford in January and has bagged stall three tonight, could capitalise. Alsvinder hinted his turn was approaching again when finishing a close third at Lingfield last month and could also take a hand.

Rangali Island (first) accounted for Sha La La La Lee (second) over C&D last time and although that pair are respected, they both had the run of the race last time out and might just be vulnerable here. Thrave is interesting on his first start for Paul Nicholls after a 205-day absence, but this can go the way of recent Chelmsford hero FURZIG. The five-year-old performed to a high level there and, after a consistent winter, is taken to claim further significant prize money.

Dancing Rave has proved successful in two of her last three starts, including over C&D recently, and has to be respected off just 2lb higher. Second Collection should appreciate the switch to this venue after finishing third at Chelmsford when last seen, but PENNYWHISTLE has an attractive profile and the booking of Oisin Murphy catches the eye. She has a strike-rate 1-8 when trained by John Gosden, but showed potential finishing behind 93, 97 and 102-rated animals, and could thrive now with Stuart Williams.

MOSS GILL disappointed off this mark at Catterick when last seen, but his form before that is rock solid and James Bethell's four-year-old can defy a 147-day absence to take the spoils here. Watchable (third) and Puds (fourth) weren't beaten too far in a Lingfield Listed contest last month and provide solid opposition, with the former a track-and-trip winner on his last appearance here.

NEVER DARK was sent off favourite when second over course and distance last month and Andrew Balding's No Nay Never colt, who has made the podium on all three starts so far, makes plenty of appeal. Karibana has also shaped nicely in his career to date and drops back in distance having gone close at Chelmsford when last seen. Captivated finished second over this trip on his final start for John Gosden and is interesting starting out for David Loughnane.
