EL GHAZWANI completed a Lingfield hat-trick during the winter and is now rated 11lb lower on grass. He has failed to make the frame on all three previous turf starts, but they came before the penny really dropped with him and he is worth chancing on it. Universal Gleam has also been in fine form on artificial surfaces, but perhaps the chief threats come in the shape of a couple of returning Newmarket raiders. Harrovian has been gelded during his time on the sidelines, while Country should be set for a profitable campaign too.
Prediction : 1st El Ghazwani 2nd Harrovian 3rd Country

Oleksander has yet to put a foot wrong and there is more to come from him this season. London Arch has relatively recent match practice on his side after finishing second at Lingfield in March, while Glenties and Favorite Moon are interesting handicap debutants. The latter was a place adrift of KIPPS when they took minor honours behind Wednesday's impressive Yarmouth scorer Celestran at Wolverhampton in November. Hughie Morrison's colt then went on to justify favouritism at Lingfield over Christmas and is bred to come into his own as a three-year-old.
Prediction : 1st Kipps 2nd Favorite Moon 3rd Oleksander

FANNY LOGAN's winning spree last year, which included three Listed races and a Group 3, earned her a trip to the Breeders' Cup and she surpassed all expectations by finishing fourth in the Filly & Mare Turf. Connections have presumably kept her in training with a view to landing a top-level triumph, and she can get her campaign off to the perfect start. Manuela De Vega is a big danger, though, especially in receipt of weight, because she was good enough to take fourth in the Oaks, as well as being touched off in a German Group 1. Shailene and Vivionn can battle it out for third.
Prediction : 1st Fanny Logan 2nd Manuela De Vega 3rd Shailene

ELARQAM isn't far short of top-class, as he showed when hammering Addeybb in the York Stakes prior to a slightly unlucky third in the Juddmonte International. The aim will surely be to get a Group 1 win into the beautifully-bred son of Frankel, and this looks an ideal launchpad for the season ahead. Bangkok has been freshened up since his costly Winter Derby defeat, but he was a long way behind Elarqam on the Knavesmire last term. Lord North turned the Cambridgeshire into a procession and is now expected to develop into a Group performer, while big things are expected of Telecaster in 2020 as well. Royal Ascot winner Sangarius comes right into the reckoning after being withdrawn from Newmarket on Friday.
Prediction : 1st Elarqam 2nd Sangarius 3rd Lord North

SPACE BLUES found only Too Darn Hot too good in the Prix Jean Prat last summer and built on that effort with another fine Group 1 performance in the Maurice de Gheest, chasing home Advertise and Brando in third. Charlie Appleby can ready his runners after an absence and, now eased in grade after having a Group 3 run at Meydan in the interim, his four-year-old rates the one to beat. Stablemate Mubtasim has similarly been active in Dubai this year and could figure, while C&D winners D'bai and Safe Voyage, as well as grade dropper Happy Power, whose trainer has recently been among the winners, cannot be left out of calculations either.
Prediction : 1st Space Blues 2nd Happy Power 3rd Dbai

In a field full of newcomers the betting may provide the best guide here. In the absence of such knowledge, SARSAPARILLA, who represents powerful connections and a stable who are not only able to ready a newcomer but have also registered winners on the board in the last week, gets the tentative vote. She is a half-sister to several winners and fetched 130,000gns as a yearling. Golden Melody and Monza City are others who could give a good account of themselves first time out.
Prediction : 1st Sarsaparilla 2nd Monza City 3rd Golden Melody

Liberty Beach enjoyed a fine juvenile campaign, winning four times, including at Listed and Group 3 level, as well as placing in the Lowther. She'll be an interesting prospect up against her elders this summer but, for now on her seasonal bow, perhaps experienced campaigner MAID IN INDIA might just have her measure. Eric Alston's speedball is a C&D winner and boasts a good record when fresh. Miss Celestial usually goes well in Listed company, while Queen Jo Jo went close in a Group 3 in Ireland on her latest outing last summer and commands respect. Good Vibes, who debuts for Michael Dods, is another three-year-old worthy of shortlist inclusion.
Prediction : 1st Maid In India 2nd Queen Jo Jo 3rd Good Vibes

TORO DORADO has won four of his last five starts on the all-weather and today could be the day he opens his turf account. He has run well on lightning quick ground in the past so that inspires plenty of encouragement. Dancing Rave has won twice already this year and was only beaten a length in 0-90 company last time. She must enter calculations dropping back down in class, while easy Chester scorer James Park Woods also merits respect.
Prediction : 1st Toro Dorado 2nd Dancing Rave 3rd James Park Woods

MAKTHECAT appeals as an unexposed quantity in the race and he has had wind surgery for the second time following a lacklustre effort on Fibresand in February. His form before that was decent, and a mark of 72 may just underestimate his ability now he tries turf for the first time on the Flat on his handicap debut, as he finished a good second in a Huntingdon bumper at the back end of last year. Brown Honey is similarly unexposed and was deemed good enough for Listed company at Yarmouth last year, while chances are also given to The Throstles and Kermouster.
Prediction : 1st Makthecat 2nd Brown Honey 3rd The Throstles

CRYSTAL PEGASUS displayed plenty of promise as a two-year-old, despite not winning, and the son of Australia could be very hard to beat on his handicap debut today. That said, Maori Knight won impressively at Chelmsford in February and an opening mark of 83 should be workable for Richard Hughes' colt. Others to consider in a competitive contest to close the card are Salamanca School, Midnights Legacy and Surrey Pride.
Prediction : 1st Crystal Pegasus 2nd Maori Knight 3rd Salamanca School
