Happy Romance was a little bit further back in that contest, but didn't have the smoothest passage and may have more luck this time around, while Clive Cox's Lethal Force colt Fernando Rah appears the pick of the newcomers on show.

MANIGORDO was deemed good enough to finish his two-year-old campaign in Group 3 company and this could be the perfect opening for Richard Hannon's Kitten's Joy colt to finally open his account following some likeable performances in defeat last season. Taawfan is closely related to some useful operators and the Night Of Thunder filly is an interesting debutant, while Mick Channon's Our Lad can build on his debut earlier this month to see off Trepidation for the final place on the podium.

WELL OF WISDOM was a regular at the business end of some useful contests as a two-year-old and won well from the front when landing the Listed Meydan Classic in February. The Godolphin horses who have spent some time in Dubai have done well since racing has restarted and the Oasis Dream colt could well be a Group horse in a handicap. Ascension finished fourth off this rating at Newmarket in the autumn and may have more to come in the assessed ranks, while Impressor was last seen finishing third in the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes and is an interesting handicap debutant following wind surgery.

SUNDAY SOVEREIGN shaped with tons of promise as a juvenile for Paddy Twomey, for all he was a little disappointing on his latest outing in the Norfolk Stakes, and he can make a winning start for his new trainer. He is a versatile colt who is likely to handle the track, and looks potentially a notch above these rivals. Having said that, Al Raya was consistent as a two-year-old and has run well here in the past. She receives 5lb off her main rival and should go close, while last weekend's Newmarket runner-up Lazuli could prove best of the remainder.

SOLID STONE was a little unlucky last summer, knocking on the door in similar competitive handicaps including twice here. A gelding operation during his time away from the track could potentially unlock another gear and he remains nicely treated on a mark of 94. From stall two, William Buick should be able to grab a handy early position and steer this son of Shamardal to a deserved victory. The Gill Brothers has improved with each start thus far and rates the biggest threat, ahead of a race-fit Exec Chef.

MAMBO NIGHTS boasts some smart juvenile form, including when running the high-class Quadrilateral to a neck over 7f at Newbury last August, and he looks sure to mount a bold bid on his seasonal reappearance. Stepping up in trip is unlikely to pose any problems and he is well drawn in stall three. Byzantine Empire made a pleasing comeback at Newcastle 12 days ago and that run should stand him in good stead, while newcomers Wirraway and Postileo add further spice to the race.

LEONCAVALLO hasn't raced on the Flat since placing in a Pontefract handicap for Charlie Appleby in October 2016 but he could prove to be fairly treated based on his hurdles rating. The booking of Jason Watson, along with a first-time tongue-tie, appear to be in his favour and he remains unexposed on the level. Nuits St Georges ran well in the Cesarewitch but is likely to be a lot happier back at this level, while Seaborn may have more to come having switched to Gary Moore since his last start.

THEATRO was no match for Goshen on her final start of 2019 at Nottingham but she had enjoyed a decent campaign, winning on a couple of occasions at Ripon, and the daughter of Camelot is open to further improvement as a four-year-old. Mankayan can be forgiven his final start on bad ground at Doncaster and represents a trainer who does particularly well with his stayers. Blame It On Sally, another who progressed nicely last year, and Vorashann appeal most of the remainder.
