SPANISH ANGEL duly took advantage of a nice opening in a small field at Brighton last year and could do even better this season in handicaps. Caspian Queen gave a Sir Michael Stoute-trained hotpot something to ponder when second at Lingfield recently, while Electric Ladyland may prove good enough for third.

Wise Counsel is a talented performer and could prove profitable to follow again this season, although the suspicion is that he would prefer a stiffer test over a furlong further, and perhaps he will be more of a betting proposition next time. Moyassar won a good handicap at Newmarket last May but proved disappointing a couple of times afterwards, and instead the vote goes to Mark Johnston's MRS BOUQUET. She ended her 2019 campaign with three successive wins, including in a conditions event over 5f here last time, and should relish stepping back up in trip.

Darebin is interesting back on the Flat for the first time since Febraury 2018 and warrants a market check off a mark of 75, while Verify is progressing nicely enough and should appreciate this return to turf. In a tough puzzle to solve, a chance can be taken on CARP KID. The five-year-old has only won once in his last 12 outings, but this isn't a great race and that aforementioned victory did come after a 102-day break last season over this distance.

BODYLINE was a useful two-year-old last season and made a bright start to his career in the handicap ranks when second at Yarmouth earlier this month. He steps up an extra two furlongs here and can go one better off a 3lb higher mark. Bright Eyed Eagle was sent off favourite when last seen and despite failing to get the job done on that occasion, he is an interesting proposition on his return switching his attention to handicaps. Glenties can beat Gibraltar to the final spot on the podium.

John Gosden has won this four times in the last nine years and his CELESTRAN, who caught the eye when winning at Yarmouth earlier this month, could be the answer this time around. The extra furlong looks likely to suit the Dansili colt, who appears well worth his place at this level. Emissary is a half-brother to the Derby and Arc champion Workforce and could easily build on his debut win at Wolverhampton to become a top-class prospect for Hugo Palmer, while Fiji did little wrong on his first start at Lingfield in January and now runs in the colours of Qatar Racing.
