It often pays to follow Charlie Appleby in these juvenile races and his YIBIR is taken to make a winning debut. He's certainly bred to be smart, being a full-brother to three-time Group 1 winner Wild Illusion, and jockey bookings would perhaps suggest that he is the stable's main hope ahead of Master Of The Seas, who warrants respect himself. Fellow newcomers Lightning War and Legion Of Honour certainly aren't ruled out either, but William Bligh will likely need to improve on his opening seventh.

VOCATUS was a solid performer in Ireland for Jim Bolger and fairly bolted up on on his latest outing at Galway in October. He has since joined the Michael Appleby team and may improve for having been gelded so is fancied to play a leading role. Arigato, a winner both on this track and the July Course, only found a Mark Johnston favourite too good on his reappearance at Yarmouth recently and he is likely to show up well again. Sir Titan and Burford Brown also merit consideration.

RICETTA was off the mark at the first time of asking over 7f here earlier in the month and is a likely improver now tackling this longer trip. FOX VARDY failed to fire in a valuable 1m6f contest at York when last seen in October but his previous second-placed finish on the July Course suggests that he can win a race of this nature. Matewan should be in the mix if he can transfer his most recent all-weather form to the turf, while Fantastic Blue and Purdey's Gift are others who merit consideration.
