Equipped has made a pleasing start to life in the handicap ranks and Mick Channon's filly attempts to build on her Lingfield near-miss off a 1lb higher figure. Bernie's Boy struck at Kempton at the weekend and appeals under a 4lb penalty, with C&D winner Thegreyvtrain also interesting off a workable rating. However, the nod goes to INDIAN SOUNDS, who was only beaten a neck at Thirsk last week and has the chance to gain some compensation off the same mark, with the in-form Kevin Stott taking over in the saddle.

GORDONSTOUN was sent off favourite for his Lingfield introduction and lost nothing in defeat, with the winner of that contest deemed good enough to run in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot last week. The Gleneagles colt can build on his third placing to land this. Hot Scoop was second to Windsor Castle fifth Mighty Gurkha on debut and could leave his subsequent disappointment in the past. Black Sparrow and Charlie Fellowes are others to catch the eye on track so far and they make the shortlist too.

A competitive handicap but marginal preference is for SPOOF, who made an encouraging return to action when finishing second at Kempton earlier in the month. With that run now under his belt, the son of Poet's Voice should take plenty of stopping off the same mark. Real Estate is another whose most recent form suggests that he will play a leading role, while Boom The Groom and War Whisper complete the shortlist.

Establish has some good experience to call upon and is another with valid form claims, while Capall and Magical Dragon are the pick of the newcomers.

BERKSHIRE PHILLY looks to have improved over the winter judging by her career-best effort when a neck second at Lingfield a couple of weeks ago. A 3lb rise for that effort is fair and Andrew Balding's filly may still have more progression left to come. Motamayiz tries first-time blinkers and he would not have much to find to make the frame. Striding Edge edges out Good Time Charlie to be the pick of the remainder.

It has been a long time between drinks for IL SICARIO, who hasn't got his head in front since June 2017, but Bill Turner's charge is 4lb below his last winning mark and with the fast ground to suit, fresh might not be a bad time to catch the six-year-old.
