TILSIT failed to reward favourite backers when finishing second on his racecourse debut over C&D earlier in the month. That said, he only found an experienced rival a head too good on that occasion and the son of First Defence should be hard to beat with that run now under his belt. Miracle Eagle displayed some promise at Thirsk 11 days ago and she could prove to be the main threat to the selection, ahead of Summer Escape.
Prediction : 1st Tilsit 2nd Miracle Eagle 3rd Summer Escape

Inhaler made a winning debut at Pontefract a couple of weeks ago and he certainly merits the utmost respect, although the 7lb penalty he has to carry is a slight concern. With that in mind, the vote goes to TOUSSAROK, who cost 75,000gns last year and is a half-brother to the Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Tropbeau. Fayathaan is out of a half-sister to the dam of recent Windsor Castle winner Tactical and any market support for him would have to be noted.
Prediction : 1st Toussarok 2nd Inhaler 3rd Fayathaan

Tabdeed is very lightly raced for a five-year-old and he has won four of his six starts to date, while he may improve for a gelding operation over the winter. A mark of 103 should be workable based on the pick of his form and Owen Burrows' charge should not be discounted. That said, preference is for GUNMETAL, who has dropped to a very attractive mark that is 4lb below his last winning one. The veteran made an encouraging return to action at Newmarket recently and he should only improve for that outing. Others to note are Glen Shiel and Treacherous.
Prediction : 1st Gunmetal 2nd Tabdeed 3rd Glen Shiel

Brando ran a flat race in the Abernant on his return but he is entitled to strip fitter for that outing and is capable of making his presence felt in this company. However, it might be worth siding with Sir Michael Stoute's MUBAKKER. The selection has 9lb to find with the first-named on these terms but he's very much on an upward curve and impressed when making a winning return in a C&D handicap. He was prominent in the betting for the Wokingham at Royal Ascot but was withdrawn due to unsuitable ground. Palace House second Judicial is another to note.
Prediction : 1st Mubakker 2nd Brando 3rd Judicial

LAHORE struck on his seasonal debut at Doncaster and although this demands more, in a tougher heat off 6lb higher, Philip Makin's six-year-old will appreciate the testing nature of this track and is taken to follow up. Venturous was unruly at the start but flashed home for second at Haydock last week and could be finishing strongly if the likes of Caspian Prince and Copper Knight set a strong pace for the closers to chase. Magical Spirit continues on an upward curve for Kevin Ryan and also merits inclusion on the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Lahore 2nd Venturous 3rd Copper Knight

ALOE VERA improved between runs last year and landed a Listed contest over this trip at Goodwood second time out. Ralph Beckett's charge is expected to take this rise in class in her stride and is considered the most likely winner ahead of Look Around, who has some solid juvenile form in the book over 1m and is open to improvement over this longer trip. Recent Haydock handicap winner Virgin Snow is a danger to all in receipt of her weight-for-age allowance and cannot be ruled out either.
Prediction : 1st Aloe Vera 2nd Look Around 3rd Virgin Snow

AUSTRALIS showed plenty at three and hinted that he's going to be even better this year when returning with an impressive 1m6f victory at Wolverhampton earlier this month. A 5lb rise is fair, and stretching out in trip is expected to suit, so he could prove tough to beat. Caravan Of Hope finished second in the aforementioned Wolverhampton contest and he is likely to be in the shake-up again, while last year's Northumberland Vase winner Carnwennan shouldn't be too far away either.
Prediction : 1st Australis 2nd Caravan Of Hope 3rd Carnwennan

16:10 Newcastle

Author's Dream defied odds of 33/1 when scoring at Sandown and he should remain competitive off 5lb higher, but GLAN Y GORS rates the one to beat chasing his fourth win in a row. He looked better than ever when returning to score over 1m2f at Pontefract last time and a further 7lb rise might not be enough to anchor him. Contrebasse was largely consistent last year and deserves a mention on his return to action.
Prediction : 1st Glan Y Gors 2nd Authors Dream 3rd Contrebasse

16:40 Newcastle

JUNIORS DREAM overcame trouble in running to land a big gamble at Haydock on Wednesday and providing those exertions haven't taken their toll, he should be able to follow up under a 5lb penalty. Midnight In Havana wears cheekpieces for the first time and shaped as though a drop in trip would suit when fifth over 1m here latest. He and Deputy Star, an unexposed gelding who ran creditably on his handicap debut over C&D, are the pair likely to put up most resistance.
Prediction : 1st Juniors Dream 2nd Midnight In Havana 3rd Deputy Star
