BREATH OF AIR stepped forward on his first outing of 2020 at Newbury when potentially benefiting from a gelding operation over the winter and a 4lb rise may not be enough to stop him from doubling up. Arigato won his latest C&D outing by nine and a half lengths and is likely to go close despite going up 8lb, while Arbalet has run well on both starts since joining David O'Meara and is feared once again.
Prediction : 1st Breath Of Air 2nd Arigato 3rd Arbalet

BOCCACCIO was only seen twice as a juvenile but scored on both occasions and was particularly impressive on the latter occasion at Kempton under a penalty. Charlie Appleby's colt is from an excellent family, being out of a dual Group 3 winner who herself is a sister to Group 1 performer Chachamaidee, and an opening mark of 95 might underestimate his true ability. Raatea won his maiden at Kempton earlier in the month and is unlikely to have any issue back in trip, while Manigordo has the assistance of Ryan Moore following his recent success at Sandown.
Prediction : 1st Boccaccio 2nd Raatea 3rd Manigordo

HAPPY POWER made a pleasing return to action when third at Haydock to Space Blues, who has since franked the form by winning at this level in France earlier in the week, and Andrew Balding's colt is entitled to come on from that outing. Limato attempts to land back-to-back renewals of this contest and ended last season with a fine effort in the Challenge Stakes behind Mustashry, while Mubtasim was narrowly denied victory in the inaugural 1351 Cup at Riyadh in February and he warrants plenty of respect along with stable companion On The Warpath.
Prediction : 1st Happy Power 2nd Limato 3rd Mubtasim

The unbeaten THUNDEROUS marked himself out as a colt to follow when landing the Listed Denford Stakes on his final appearance of 2019 and Mark Johnston's son of Night of Thunder could have plenty more improvement up his sleeve now upped in distance. Volkan Star left a disappointing run in the Zetland Stakes in the past when making a pleasing reappearance in the Newmarket Stakes earlier this month. The Sea The Stars gelding could build on that outing but may need further than this to be seen at his best, while Man Of The Night made a respectable first attempt at this trip when third at Newbury last time.
Prediction : 1st Thunderous 2nd Volkan Star 3rd Man Of The Night

NUGGET opened his account on his handicap debut at Doncaster earlier this month and there could be plenty more to come from the Siyouni colt, who is a half-brother to the Listed winner UAE Prince, as he steps up in trip once more. Fruition was back in third on that occasion and has just over four lengths to find, but is 6lb better off with the selection today, while Al Maysan can't be ruled out in first-time cheekpieces. Glenties was hampered at a key point at Goodwood recently and despite unlikely to have won on that occasion, he would have finished much closer to the winner without the interference and is respected dropping back in trip.
Prediction : 1st Nugget 2nd 3rd Glenties

PURE BEAUTY produced a taking display over 7f when making a winning debut here earlier this month and could take all the beating once again, now upped to a mile. The fifth and sixth from that contest both went close on their next appearance, which gives hope that the Shamardal filly could be a really useful performer. Perfect Inch and Award Scheme finished second and third respectively at Chelmsford last time and have to be respected. The latter has shaped like a winner in waiting in her two outings so far and looks the pick of William Haggas' pair.
Prediction : 1st Pure Beauty 2nd Award Scheme 3rd Perfect Inch

Moomba (third) finished ahead of Table Mountain (fourth) at Newbury earlier this month when the pair outran monster odds of 50-1 and 100-1 respectively, while Speech Room cost 75,000gns as a yearling and showed ability on debut when fifth at Haydock. William Haggas probably holds the key to this race, though, with $1,200,000 yearling AL QAQAA. Promising twice last season, he finished third on reappearance at Yarmouth, seemingly just being tapped for toe, and should appreciate this likely stiffer test of stamina on the Rowley Mile.
Prediction : 1st Al Qaqaa 2nd Moomba 3rd Table Mountain

WALKONBY accounted for King George V handicap runner-up Kipps when last seen at Haydock and a 6lb rise might not be too harsh for those exertions. This extra yardage should suit Mick Channon's filly and the booking of Ryan Moore also catches the eye. Delta's Royalty was probably the horse to take from the race when second over C&D behind a potentially smart newcomer under a 7lb penalty, while Kepala and Southwell scorer Escalade add further depth to this contest.
Prediction : 1st Walkonby 2nd Deltas Royalty 3rd Escalade
