UK Horse Racing Tips: Limerick

Jessica Harrington's EQUILOVE looks the one to side with. She was nicely backed before her debut at Fairyhouse and ran a respectable race in third behind a promising winner. Shane Foley's mount is likely to come on plenty from that opening gambit. Amber Kite races for the powerful tandem of Ger Lyons and Colin Keane and has to be respected on debut. Mick Halford's Mehmas filly Going Global is well worth checking for market strength. Royal Blend is a potential improver after missing the kick when unplaced at the Curragh. Inner Beauty showed speed in that race to come home third, but didn't build on it when a beaten favourite in fourth at Tipperary. She didn't get much cover in Tipperary, though, so has to go on the shortlist.

GIORGIO VASARI could recoup losses from Fairyhouse. The Air Force Blue colt, who is a half brother to former Group-One winning-juvenile Sioux Nation, was a warm order to oblige on debut but caught a tartar in the winner. He was beaten half a length into second and can go one better with that experience under his belt. Confidence in his chance would be boosted by a good run from Equilove in the opener, as she was four and a half lengths behind him in third at Fairyhouse. The Blue Panther is running consistently and is the most experienced horse in the race. He was only caught close home when third at Navan and looks sure to get involved. Jack Davison had a two-year-old winner in Roscommon last week, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Cisco Disco go well. Procellarum is related to several winners, while To Glory and Rich Law No Law would be interesting if strong in the market.

Chris Hayes got a tune out of NEYLAND when runner-up over seven furlongs at Fairyhouse, and the pair look worthy of support. That was her first meaningful piece of form, and perhaps it wasn't a surprise to some as her price more than halved from 25-1 to 11-1 for that handicap. This isn't a strong race by any means, so she is taken to prove that it wasn't a fluke. Fugacious came in second when last seen, in a better class, at the Curragh in October. That form entitles him to be involved, however, he has the long lay-off to overcome. The market should be a guide to the confidence in him. Noirvento is a solid yardstick at this level, and can pick up more prize money if ready to go on her first outing since the winter series at Dundalk. Bay Of Skaill is dropping down the weights and could pop up sooner rather than later.

Ronan Whelan is a notable booking for MISS DANCEALOT and she is tipped to get off the mark. Jarlath Fahey's charge showed much more on seasonal reappearance when an encouraging fifth at Roscommon, beaten by three and a half lengths. That was her first handicap and it was over a stiff seven furlongs. She stuck to her task there, so this mile ought to suit. She has to race from out of the handicap but is up against a lot of out-of-form rivals. Slade Runner likely won't have many better chances to shed his maiden tag and is the horse to beat. He was a beaten favourite at Fairyhouse, though, when tardy at the gates and could be vulnerable. At bigger prices, Ahaziah starts life in handicap company off a mark of 59 and can be given an each-way squeak. He was unplaced in three maidens last season, but some serious horses (including Irish Derby hero Santiago and Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Star) have come out of those races, so he could enjoy this company more.

There could be another victory in SHONA MEA off her revised mark. After she won by a length at Gowran Park this month, trainer Jessica Harrington said that she had come forward very well from last year and had improved. The handicapper has given her 9lb to a new mark of 59, but it is interesting to note that the horse she beat into fifth, Jan Wellens, came out and won, in this grade, off 59 at Roscommon last week. Amelia Jane, in the first-time cheekpieces, is the danger. She kept on really well to almost snatch second over an extended six furlongs at this track, and has form over a mile in Dundalk. Jm Barrie finished a couple of places behind Amelia Jane in fifth and can lift a cheque.

DAWN RISING has plenty to recommend his chances. He was pitched into Group 3 company on debut at Leopardstown last October and was far from disgraced in rear of the five runners. However, it was his seasonal reappearance when fourth in a maiden at the Curragh that really catches the eye. The horse a place behind him, his stablemate Serpentine, came out and won a Curragh maiden on Saturday by nine lengths. Dermot Weld takes the wraps off Zawara who is by Dubawi out of a Sea The Stars mare. She holds an Irish Oaks entry which makes her of obvious interest in this maiden. Dances With Stars is a Sea The Stars colt making his debut for Joseph O'Brien, and should be given a market check. Yulong Pearlisland has met some decent sorts and could do better here.

Peregrine Run has won 16 National Hunt races and is looking to add a flat maiden to his collection. He's an admirable horse and would be a threat if the ground remained good or quicker. GREAT HOUSE may just do him for toe, though. This Galileo colt takes a marked step up in trip after finishing second over an extended nine furlongs at Gowran Park, when staying on well. He was heavily backed there and compensation looms. In addition, he holds a Group 2 entry over a mile and six at the Curragh in July. Edward O'Grady has booked Colin Keane for Rasiym who was headed close home over a similar trip at this track. The winner has since boosted the form in a handicap hurdle, so Rasiym is entitled to go well.

GEOLAI attracted plenty of support and ran well off the front in Roscommon before giving best at the business end. She has prospects of going one better. New Vocation has put in two solid runner-up efforts recently, and opportunity could knock for her if she can translate her good form over 10 furlongs to a mile and a half. Marmolata has switched to Emmet Mullins, is up in trip and has a first-time hood. She was placed in a fillies' maiden at Cork and in a claiming maiden at Dundalk (when beaten a short head and a nose into third) for Ger Lyons last season.
