MISS MILBY narrowly failed to put her experience to good use when beaten by a potentially useful newcomer at Hamilton last month and, after occupying the same position on debut at Beverley a couple of weeks earlier, she is taken to open her account here. Miss Fernanda was a cheap purchase at the Breeze-Up sales earlier this month and her sire was responsible for the Norfolk winner at Royal Ascot last month, while fellow newcomer Gangster Girl is also taken seriously.
Prediction : 1st Miss Milby 2nd Miss Fernanda 3rd Gangster Girl

Crosse Fire has been reliable over the years for Scott Dixon and should have benefitted from a break after 12 months without much of an absence for the Nottinghamshire-based handler. Alba Del Sole carries a 5lb penalty after an easy success at Leicester last week, but this is a quick enough turnaround again after three runs in the last two weeks and a chance can be taken on ARNOLD. He made a pleasing return at Beverley last month and, now dropped a couple of pounds, is worth paying attention to.
Prediction : 1st Arnold 2nd Alba Del Sole 3rd Crosse Fire

Michael Bell is a relatively rare visitor to this venue, but he is 2-6 with juveniles at Ripon in the last five years and the once-raced FAST EMMA should enjoy this 6f test. A half-sister to three winners, she was far from disgraced on debut at Chepstow earlier this month as she made late progress when the penny eventually dropped. Aish finished fourth behind Albany heroine Dandalla on debut but failed to build on that when fifth of seven at Hamilton, while, of the newcomers, Blowing Wind appeals most coming from a top northern yard.
Prediction : 1st Fast Emma 2nd Aish 3rd Blowing Wind

ROUND THE ISLAND ran a huge race at his beloved Pontefract when second last week and, now racing off a 3lb lower mark, looks to have been located an ideal opening by Richard Whitaker. 1-1 at this venue, he would appreciate drying ground and has a nice draw in stall two. Harry's Ridge showed more last time when third at Haydock and wears cheekpieces for the first time now dropped in trip, while Twin Paradox has slipped to a fair mark and is surely better than what he has shown so far.
Prediction : 1st Round The Island 2nd Harrys Ridge 3rd Twin Paradox

SUSIE JAVEA has gone close on both outings since the restart and won't mind a little cut in the ground as she attempts to go one better than her recent Catterick third off a 2lb higher mark. Jaaneh has been given a chance by the assessor and has to be respected for William Haggas in first-time cheekpieces, while Herbert Pocket finished fourth off this mark over the same trip at Thirsk last week and could get a little closer this time around.
Prediction : 1st Susie Javea 2nd Jaaneh 3rd Herbert Pocket

VOLCANO BAY has produced two respectable efforts since the return of racing and could make amends to supporters who sent him off favourite at Catterick earlier this month. Buzz Lightyere was slowly away and then never got going when a disappointing ninth at Leicester last time, but had done well to finish third at Redcar before that and is considered, while Maykir is the best of these on ratings and is the only one with a career victory to their name.
Prediction : 1st Volcano Bay 2nd Buzz Lightyere 3rd Maykir

OPTIMA PETAMUS picked up a silver medal at Southwell when last seen, albeit soundly beaten by a well-handicapped rival on that occasion, and that marks him out as the one to side with as he drops back in trip. Spark Of War shaped encouragingly over a mile on his reappearance and the extra two furlongs can help, while Seven For A Pound ran well over this distance on his penultimate start and is respected.
Prediction : 1st Optima Petamus 2nd Spark Of War 3rd Seven For A Pound

Sudona built on a couple of near-misses since the restart when a good winner over 10 furlongs at Pontefract last week and is a solid option under a 5lb penalty here. However, CHORAL WORK could make light work of her opening handicap mark following a breakthrough victory, when upped to this distance, at Haydock last time. The Nathaniel filly had earlier finished second to Worthily, who subsequently ran in the Derby, at Newbury and there is scope for plenty more success. Escalade was second on her handicap debut at Newmarket and is also respected off the same mark for the shrewd Sir Mark Prescott team.
Prediction : 1st Choral Work 2nd Sudona 3rd Escalade

MARIE'S GEM sets the standard here having made the podium over 10 furlongs the last twice and Mark Johnston's charge has shaped like the extra distance that he encounters this time could suit. Lion's Vigil put in a much more encouraging performance when upped to this trip on his handicap bow last time and is interesting in first-time cheekpieces. Lord Warburton arrives with a similar profile and is also shortlisted.
Prediction : 1st Maries Gem 2nd Lions Vigil 3rd Lord Warburton
