A highly competitive race for the grade but the marginal preference is for CALEDONIAN CRUSADE, who put in a career best when finishing third on his handicap/seasonal debut at Kempton last month. That form appears to be quite strong and the son of Gleneagles merits plenty of respect off the same mark this afternoon. Dream With Me probably found the drop to 1m2f a bit sharp at Leicester last time but that performance did prove that his current mark is fair. Riviera Belle, who is out of Listed-wnning half-sister to Golden Horn, should be suited by this step up in trip having caught the eye when staying on over 1m2f at Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago. Others to note are Swift Verdict and My Vision.
Prediction : 1st Dream With Me 2nd Caledonian Crusade 3rd Riviera Belle

ALPINE MISTRAL was a very impressive five-length winner at Ripon eight days ago and a 6lb penalty is unlikely to be enough to stop her from taking this moderate contest as well. Lunar Deity hit the crossbar over a mile here late last month and he could fill second place once again today, although Volcano Bay could fight him for that position.
Prediction : 1st Alpine Mistral 2nd Lunar Deity 3rd Volcano Bay

The unexposed GRAND CANAL put in a career best when narrowly beaten on his handicap debut at Salisbury recently and he should be capable of getting off the mark this afternoon. My Brother Mike bounced back to form at Ripon last time and it would be no surprise to see him in the mix once again today. Elsie Violet edges out Saga Sprint to be the pick of the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Grand Canal 2nd My Brother Mike 3rd Elsie Violet

Pink Sands took a step forward from her debut to strike at Ripon for William Haggas 399 days ago and hasn't been seen on the track since, but she is clearly a filly with potential and would be there at the finish if running to her rating of 83. However, SILVER MACHINE was an easy winner on debut at Chelmsford in November for Archie Watson and could remain unbeaten. The three-year-old is a half-sister to Listed winner Dave Dexter and may have more to offer now on turf. Courtesy may prove best of the newcomers.
Prediction : 1st Silver Machine 2nd Pink Sands 3rd Courtesy

High Applause ran no sort of race on debut at Wolverhampton last month but should be wiser for that experience, while Alicestar is a half-sister to plenty of winners but isn't with a yard renowned for having juveniles fully wound up for their first start. SOLDIER LIONS looked to be going best of all for much of the way when finding one too good at Leicester earlier this month, just failing to pick up, but he showed plenty of potential there and has been located a suitable opening today.
Prediction : 1st Soldier Lions 2nd Alicestar 3rd High Applause

INDEPENDENCE DAY built on his promising Thirsk second when finishing third in a deeper contest over this C&D earlier this month and should exploit this mark of 49 sooner rather than later. The step up to 6f suited Chelsea Banham's charge and he should get a strong pace to aim at here. Wild Flower defied a 13-day absence to score at Ripon eight days ago and shouldn't be far away once more, while Bold Decision dropped in class to strike at Bath last weekend and is also worthy of consideration.
Prediction : 1st Independence Day 2nd Bold Decision 3rd Wild Flower

PRINCE CASPER took a step in the right direction when beaten by under two lengths into second over 5f at Chelmsford last time and is expected to improve for this additional furlong to go one better. Sparkling Diamond has been raised 4lb for scoring over this trip at Wolverhampton earlier in the month but can fight it out with C&D winner Herringswell, who ran well over 7f here last time, for the silver medal.
Prediction : 1st Prince Casper 2nd Sparkling Diamond 3rd Herringswell

INDIAN ROAD shaped encouragingly when fourth over this trip at Kempton last time and likely has improvement in the pipeline now the penny has seemingly dropped. Millicent has shown promise in novice and maiden contests and could improve for the switch to handicaps, while it is possible Aswaat could better her last effort at Doncaster now sporting a first-time hood.
Prediction : 1st Indian Road 2nd Millicent 3rd Aswaat

OSO RAPIDO signed off last season with a staying-on success over 7f at Redcar in September and is entitled to improve again for this additional furlong on his seasonal return. Another to consider who is returning from an absence is Marco Botti's No Nay Bella, who landed a Kempton novice contest in February and now makes her handicap debut. En Famille sports first-time blinkers and looks best of the rest.
Prediction : 1st Oso Rapido 2nd No Nay Bella 3rd En Famille
