ISLE OF MAY caught the eye when finishing a close second on her debut at Newmarket recently and that form has already been boosted with the sixth winning earlier in the week. John Gosden's filly is the only one in this field with previous race experience and that could prove to be vital. There are some extremely well-bred newcomers on show and they include Snow Lantern, who is a daughter of Frankel and the four-time Group 1 winner Sky Lantern. Light Refrain and Zabeel Queen are others by Frankel who merit respect, while jockey bookings suggest that Renaissance Rose is the pick of Charlie Appleby's pair.

A very competitive renewal of this Listed race but the marginal preference is for CHINDIT, who really caught the eye when making a winning debut at Doncaster a few weeks ago. Debutant winners from Richard Hannon's yard are usually above average and this son of Wootton Bassett should not be underestimated today. Saeiqa is an obvious threat having filled third place in the Coventry at Royal Ascot but the strength of that form can be questioned. Saint Lawrence filled fourth place in the Superlative Stakes and a reproduction of that performance today would have him right in the mix. The unbeaten Twaasol won the Woodcote last time and is the pick of the remainder.

Blue Mist has returned a beaten favourite on four of his last five starts but his supporters will take heart from his excellent third off 1lb higher in this contest 12 months ago. He has been popular in the ante-post market since Ryan Moore was put up to ride, though EBURY could be the one to be on instead. Martyn Meade's four-year-old led home those stranded on the far side of the track in the Buckingham Palace Handicap, finishing a creditable sixth overall, and still has scope for improvement on his fourth start in a handicap. Jack's Point was in front of the selection when runner-up at Royal Ascot (albeit from a favourable draw) and should run his race at the head of affairs once again, while the likes of Cliffs Of Capri, Vale Of Kent and Spanish City have run well on the straight course here in the past and have something to recommend them.

TSAR was given a confident ride when striking over this trip at Yarmouth three weeks ago and is expected to defy a 6lb rise to notch a quick double. Tell Me All picked up minor money in a competitive contest at Windsor last month and has viable place claims off this 1lb higher perch, though the main danger to the selection may be Johan, who got up in the final half-furlong and won cosily on his seasonal return at Newbury.

ENABLE's whole campaign centres around trying to regain the Arc, so although she came up short against match-fit and classy frontrunner Ghaiyyath on her reappearance in the Eclipse, connections had no reason to be disheartened. John Gosden's star mare is entitled to come on for that outing and although her principal target remains Longchamp in early October, she is expected to repeat her 2017 and 2019 successes in this contest before returning to Paris. Japan finished behind the selection in last year's Arc and the Eclipse more recently but could see off stablemates Anthony Van Dyck and Sovereign in the battle for second.

Everything points to a massive run from FRONTISPIECE, who is one from one at this venue and ran right up to somewhere near his best when chasing home the smart Country at Newmarket two weeks ago. He is entitled to improve for that first outing since November and with Ryan Moore aboard once more, he looks sure to go close off a 1lb higher mark. Mankayan and Power Of States were split by a subsequent winner when first and third respectively at Doncaster earlier in the month and both have their chance here, while the three-year-old Media Storm also merits consideration receiving weight all around.

MESHAKEL gets the tentative vote in what looks a competitive nursery. The form of his third-placed effort at Ayr last time looks solid, with the winner running well in Listed company and fourth scoring readily since, and the booking of William Buick is a big positive. Star Cactus had a subsequent winner two places behind when runner-up at Newmarket and she is likely to show up well again, while Collinsbay and Grantley add further spice to the race.

Ben Haslam deserves great credit for the work he has done with SOLO SAXOPHONE, who is unbeaten in three starts since joining the Middleham trainer and the six-year-old son of Frankel won with enough in hand at York last time to suggest that he can defy a further 10lb hike in the ratings. Young Merlin chased home the selection on the Knavesmire and, equipped with first-time blinkers, is likely to be in the shake-up again, while Newcastle one-two Cosmelli and Sleeping Lion also merit respect.
