WILD LION shaped with promise when second over 6f on debut at Yarmouth last month and natural improvement would make Saeed Bin Suroor's colt tough to stop. The step up to 7f should suit this son of The Last Lion, and the form of his racecourse bow looks strong given that the winner was third in Listed company behind Method last weekend. New Mandate was third at the first time of asking at Ascot earlier this month and should take a step forward, while, of the newcomers, perhaps Dhahabi can prove best given that he holds an entry in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes in Ireland next month.

Just over two lengths separated INDIE ANGEL (first) and Odyssey Girl (second) when they met over course and distance earlier this month and despite the second being better off on the revised terms, John Gosden's filly appears the type to keep on improving and can confirm superiority over her rival here. Cry Havoc is interesting stepping up in trip on her handicap debut following some fine efforts in novice contests, while Star In The Making was a respectable fourth in a competitive Sandown contest last time and can't be ruled out making the podium off the same rating.

DEFENCE GIRL has shaped with real promise in her short career so far and was only beaten a neck at Bath last time. The form of that second was given a huge boost when the winner, Establish, landed a competitive handicap here during the July Festival, and the First Defence filly can open her account now. Declaring Love took the step up to a mile in her stride when second over course and distance earlier this month and could have more to come, while Kempton winner Maurimo and John Gosden's newcomer Bizzi Lizzi have to be given plenty of respect.

Course-and-distance winner Destroyer got his head in front at Leicester recently, while Turntable landed a competitive Doncaster handicap when last seen and both warrant plenty of respect. However, preference is for AHDAB, who has shaped with real encouragement in maiden contests so far this summer and could appreciate the return to a mile ahead of his handicap debut. The consistent Jalwan finished second at Kempton recently and could play a part, while Blue Skyline is better than he showed when disappointing at Sandown and could offer some value.

BREATH CAUGHT was not beaten far when finishing second in a competitive contest at Epsom on Derby Day a few weeks ago and Ralph Beckett's gelding merits plenty of respect today, despite a 3lb rise in the ratings. Ironclad was a disappointing favourite in that contest but it was his seasonal return and it is too soon to be writing him off. Others to consider are Nicklaus and Joyful Mission.

The son of Exceed And Excel was demoted into second for causing interference on that occasion and he can provide his supporters with some compensation this afternoon. Fonzie was not disgraced on his debut at Doncaster and he should put in a better performance with that run now under his belt, while similar comments apply to Eternal Prince.
