UK Horse Racing Tips: Galway

The Coolmore partners have three in here, two with Aidan O'Brien, and one with his son Donnacha. The trio in question are all Galileo colts and with current Ballydoyle number one Wayne Lordan aboard ONTARIO, that fellow gets the nod. Ontario is already 'a winner,' though demoted after passing the post in front at Fairyhouse on July 5th. He was a strong favourite then in a small field and got home by a short head from Reve De Voi. Rightly demoted there after slightly bumping the eventual victor, perhaps he can make it third time lucky on the slower ground at the longer trip. Ontario's stable companion Hms Seahorse finished in front of Snowy Owl when they met at the Curragh. He can confirm placings and follow the selection home. Halite looks best of the rest.

THE RAIN KING failed by some way to come up to market expectations last time and it'll be interesting to see the level of confidence behind him in this. In the immediate run-in to The Rain King's Curragh June 26th assignment, he tumbled in price from 9/2 into 9/4. Seventh place was the best Donnacha O'Brien's charge could manage in a decent maiden won by another owned by the Coolmore partners, Delphi. Slower ground mightn't do the selection any harm at all now, and he's taken to vindicate the promise shown on debut when third at Naas on June 8th. Castel Gandolfo needs to bounce back after an underwhelming effort on testing terrain at Roscommon. Shane Foley reported then that his mount hung right in the straight. Drawn out wide in fifteen Crassus could come forward for the addition of blinkers.

Sheila Lavery has had many great days at Galway. It's been a little while since she sampled Ballybrit delight now but there could be more to come for her here with ULTRA PRIDE. At the time of writing Robbie Colgan is on the cold jockeys list, and no doubt he'd welcome a winner for his main yard. Trust Colgan to have the selection quick out of his favourable stall two draw. He stays a lot further than this and testing terrain would be no inconvenience to him either. Elsewhere and there are dangers aplenty. Yafordadoe couldn't have been any smoother in victory over hurdles at Cork just over a week back. The fact that he's already a course winner at Galway makes the Gavin Cromwell contender a big danger to all. Hightimeyouwon could also take a hand.

Last-time-out winners Call Me Rocky, Talking Tough (here on Monday) and Next In Line are all very much respected. Talking Tough beat Soaring Monarch on the opening evening of the festival and that Peter Fahey runner re-opposes with hopes over a longer trip. For a selection a chance is taken with handicap first-timer MAGIC CHEGAGA. Gavin Ryan won't be forgetting Galway 2020 in a hurry, principally probably due to Saltonstall's heroics on Tuesday evening, and he had his first winner for Dermot Weld the previous night aboard Centroid. Magic Chegaga is Rosewell's representative here, and they are already on the mark for the selection's owners, Moyglare Stud Farm, at this year's Ballybrit summer highlight. Blue For You got the fixture off to the best possible start for the team. Magic Chegaga is by another Darley stallion, Teofilo, and the ground might be a bit of a worry. A mark of 76 with Gavin Ryan up to claim five should put the chestnut right in the mix. Yulong Voice begins for Shane Nolan and he mightn't be completely out of it

ZOZIMUS looks like he's learning as he goes along and despite being drawn out a little bit in stall eight, a win could be coming his way despite encountering slower ground. The son of Footstepsinthesand caught the eye when finishing well in third over six furlongs at Cork last time and the extra trip really promises to suit. Not that it mattered but the rider dropped his stick at Mallow, and hopefully Zozimus will be strong in the market now and an investment can be made with a bit of confidence. Iron Sheriff and No Patience clash again after their Bellewstown meeting a month ago. The pair are big players. The newcomers need to be monitored in the betting. Star Image is another to keep in mind.

There will be a lot of eyes on PRINCESS ZOE after her great success here on Monday night over further. She's off a seven pound higher mark here but Joey Sheridan helps offset most of that with his five pound allowance. There are few if any better among the youngsters in the weigh-room, and Sheridan will likely settle in on the grey from her draw out in stall fourteen. After initially looking like she mightn't find for pressure, that was some finishing burst she produced in the Connacht Hotel race. This will surely be run at a stronger gallop and the drop in distance mightn't inconvenience too much. War Diary was fourth here last year for John Murphy. He'll likely have plenty of backers now on his second outing for Michael Halford. In truth there's the potential for many of these to play a part and the O'Brien three-year-olds are fascinating. Halimi cannot be left out of calculations either.

Off a four pound higher mark DARK VOYAGER can go a place better after finishing second here on Monday evening. Of course the winner then, Flying Scotsman, went on to show the form in a good light back at Ballybrit the following day. Colin Keane is not available to ride the Willie Mullins runner now, but a top replacement has been secured in Shane Foley. Last time out scorer Wojood has to be respected, as do previous Galway victors Grace To Grace, Tuamhain and Andratx. It would be folly to forget about the likes of Allora Yeats, Call Me Dolly, Nightly Wailing, Aasleagh Fawn, Son Of Hypnos or Merroir either.
