Oddschecker tips for every race at Cork on Sunday.
Perhaps PRESENTING MEGHAN can make a winning start over hurdles. We haven't seen her since October but that afternoon she was keeping good company at Gowran, when contesting a mares' Listed bumper. The selection wasn't disgraced despite finishing towards the rear then, not helping herself by racing keenly. A well-bred mare, Presenting Meghan might have the fizz taken out of her by racing over flights, and the Galway victor begins for Gavin Cromwell with Conor McNamara up. The latter's five pound claim is an added bonus. Cape Islay finished at the rear here in the Cork Derby last time but she looks a big player now. There are plenty in the mix with place claims, including Floating Around and Moonlight Eclipse.Prediction : 1st Presenting Meghan 2nd Cape Islay 3rd Floating Around
Minellas all over the place here with the Clonmel moniker on three of them. The name originates of course with John Nallen, and he fields Minella Away and Minella Moment, and it'll be interesting if the market indicates a fancy for the latter, a first-time-out son of Kayf Tara. Hotelier Nallen sold Minella Mystics to owner, Caroline Ahearn, and John McConnell's charge could enter the equation on his hurdle debut. Glory is back at Cork with a chance after finishing second to Yafordadoe over two miles here nine days back. Up in trip he could be helped by the addition of a tongue-strap. Going the other way distance-wise, FEST DEIZ, is the selection. He made a pleasing first start over flights when runner-up to Oscar Montel over three miles at Limerick. He can now improve in his jumping, and settle better, to step up a placing to the number one spot. Arguments that some of the others hold place claims are easily made.Prediction : 1st Fest Deiz 2nd Glory 3rd Minella Mystics
TREES VALLEY is taken to make a winning handicap debut. She won a point-to-point in style from the front last time and she's a well-bred mare that would add to her value as a breeding prospect were she to put track success to her name. The Mahler mare is out of an unraced half-sister to a classy horse in Valley Henry, and there are other multiple winners close up in the pedigree such as Twin Plan and Major Malarkey. A top pilot has been booked for the spin in Darragh O'Keeffe, and he's recently rewarded his many followers with 66/1, 25/1 and 8/1 winners. Meanwhile trainer Liam Burke sent out a winner, a second and a fourth in the latter stages of July. On the back of a Tramore win over fences Ballybrowney Walk is now rated 99 at that game. She has to be considered off 93 here. Mashell is also worth a mention.Prediction : 1st Trees Valley 2nd Ballybrowney Walk 3rd Mashell
She's way down the pecking order at Closutton, but it would be a brave observer to say that Willie Mullins won't get a win or two out of HOPEFULLY somewhere along the line. The Joe Keeling-owned and bred Beat Hollow mare left a nightmare Kilbeggan performance in the past to finish third at Tramore behind well-handicapped odds-on shot Thatbeatsbanagher. That represents very good form at this level and off a pound higher, and back in trip, the five-year-old should be a huge player. Slainte And Thanks, Echoes Of Family, Deauville Society and Winsor Vixen aren't long about catching the eye. In truth though there are many capable of making an impression.Prediction : 1st Hopefully 2nd Slainte And Thanks 3rd Echoes Of Family
BRODER travelled notably well in Limerick before being outgunned in third, and can get his reward here. He wasn't fluent at the last flight in that two and a half mile handicap hurdle and was beaten a length and a quarter and a neck. He attracted plenty of support that day, so a big run looks on the cards off 2lb higher. In addition, he is a former course winner. Important Message had a lucrative Bellewstown in winning a handicap hurdle (over a similar trip to this) before finishing third in another one four days later. He was last seen unseating at the first in a beginners' chase at Tipperary. He is of obvious interest reverting back to the smaller obstacles. There is another day in the veteran Youngnedofthehill judging by the number of placed efforts he has clocked up since last summer. Paul Townend has been booked for just the second time and the pair can get in the mix. Epsilon Indi also has a part to play. Prediction : 1st Broder 2nd Important Message 3rd Youngnedofthehill
John McConnell's GO ANOTHER ONE is highest rated on 142 and has plenty of decent hurdle form in the book. His fifth in the Grade One novice hurdle at the Punchestown Festival last year entitles him to plenty of respect in this company. Prior to that, he won at Grade 3 and Listed level in Thurles and Perth respectively. The eight-year-old gelding reverts back to hurdling after a spell steeplechasing which yielding two victories. Former Melbourne Cup runner-up Max Dynamite has his first crack at three miles over hurdles, and it could sweeten him up. His recent efforts on the flat and over fences have been underwhelming, so this looks well worth a try. His class should carry him into what isn't a deep race. Tigris River is a former Galway Hurdle hero who switched to Aidan Howard before finishing fourth in a hurdle race at Kilbeggan in July. He showed up well there, however, previous attempts at three miles haven't seen him trouble the judge.Prediction : 1st Go Another One 2nd Max Dynamite 3rd Tigris River
GERALDO was a warm order to oblige on debut at Kilbeggan and can go one better. He was swamped by his lesser-fancied stablemate, but did little wrong as he finished well clear of the remainder. This former point-to-point winner should be all the better for that experience. Brooklyn Balance was the horse that finished 12 lengths behind Geraldo in third at Kilbeggan, so has plenty to find reopposing again. State Of Glory showed some promise on debut when third at Bellewstown with Patrick Mullins in the plate. The pair are reunited for this assignment. Australia gelding The Boys In Blue is related to several winners and ran well for a long way before coming home fourth in a two and a half mile bumper at Gowran Park.Prediction : 1st Geraldo 2nd State Of Glory 3rd The Boys In Blue
