The grey won well at Doncaster and was not far away at York last time, so could go well here.

Gamesome surprised everyone with his victory at Haydock last time and might be a factor again despite a 2lb rise, while The Grey Zebedee ran respectably at Ayr last time and could fare well, though might prefer more cut in the ground. Awsaaf showed up well for third at Wolverhampton last time, but this can go the way of VAN GERWEN, who has struggled on softer ground the last twice but could hit the target now on a sounder surface.

LOCKET has displayed promise in all three starts in novice/maiden company and the daughter of Bated Breath merits plenty of respect on her nursery debut, especially as she may improve for the first-time application of cheekpieces. Infant Hercules has a similar profile to the selection and he should not be underestimated. Others to note are Emerald Ensign, Innse Gall and Eagle Eyed Freddie.

In a wide-open contest the marginal preference is for DANCE TO PARIS, who was not disgraced in competitive races at Wolverhampton and Doncaster prior to finishing second at Beverley last time. Clearance accounted for Kensington Art at Musselburgh last month and that pair should be in the mix once again, while Gold Arch and Repetitio also merit respect.

STRIDING EDGE is very hard to oppose given that he won by 10 lengths at Pontefract last week and the three-year-old is 9lb well in this afternoon, despite having to carry a 6lb penalty for that victory. Fishable and Fraternity are other unexposed three-year-olds who could make the frame but will have to improve to beat the selection. All of the remainder have claims but Scottish Summit is arguably the pick of them.

The three-year-old has bumped into a few smart types in his career so far and, with no concerns over his attitude, is fancied to justify likely short odds. Allgold is related to some nice types and could make a strong debut, while Just The Ticket may prove best of the remainder.
