UK Horse Racing Tips: Tipperary

MATEO CRUZ is a very interesting runner on debut for new connections, having presumably changed hands for a nice price following a promising debut for Eddie Harty at the Curragh in June. He didn't have the clearest of passages in that Curragh maiden but stayed on very well and the form of that race is quite smart. Progression looks very likely following that promising debut but a concern today is he encounters soft ground for the first time. Urban Beat himself ran a promising race on debut at Naas last month and is a half-brother to five winners. He was slowly into stride on debut but finished well behind the winner who won the Molecomb Stakes on his next start, with the runner-up having previous and useful form to her name. That Molecomb Stakes winner Steel Bull is trained by I Am Magnetic's trainer and I Am Magnetic himself showed up well in a smart Curragh maiden last month. I Am Magnetic proved his ability on easy ground then, travelled quite well through his race, and while unable to quicken with the leaders, showed enough to suggest he can prove competitive here despite a big weight. Giselles Thunder ran a promising race when second on debut at Navan last month, is by promising stallion Night Of Thunder and is a sister to an Italian Listed winner. She has form with Dense Star (who beat Urban Beat in Naas), will be ok on easy ground but hasn't run since her June debut. Lightning Boltz has shown useful ability on his two runs, is very much proven on easy and while vulnerable to smart types, could get involved for the placings.

BRAZIL was a beaten favourite on debut at Navan last month but can benefit from the experience and win this. A brother to Irish Derby winner Capri, he seemed to lack a little pace on his debut run (on easy ground) but did stay on well in the closing stages and looks the have the size and scope to progress with racing. Skilled Warrior himself ran a very solid race on debut at Gowran last month. He failed to keep pace with the leaders late-on but his runner-up stablemate subsequently won a Galway maiden on his next start and Skilled Warrior is also now proven on testing ground. Forbes' sire Zoffany produces many soft ground winners and being out of a winning dam whose half-brother won the Racing Post Trophy, could get involved on debut. Eternal Flame is a brother to Winter and while very likely to have smart ability, is probably best watched on debut. Jack Duggan is by a first-season American sire and is out of a dam who is an unraced half-sister to Group 1 winner Saoirse Abu. Pageboy, by Kodiac, was a 25,000gns yearling purchase and is out of an unraced dam who is related to some black-type performers.

PIRATE LASS has shown a consistently useful level of ability and can get off the mark here. All five of her runs thus far have been good efforts and while she is vulnerable to improving smart types, she can be counted on for a good effort again today and is very much prove on testing ground. Mostaqqer himself showed useful form at Roscommon in June but was easy to back when well enough held at Galway recently. He should get involved at the business end of this lesser maiden but might find the selection too strong. Zephron has shown useful form on testing ground in the past, steps up to this trip for the first time today and has solid place claims.

AZTEC PARADE was an easy winner at Leopardstown last month and can follow up here, despite being wrong at the weights with Real Force and Latin Five. The selection showed good ability on his initial two starts and while he was expected to win his maiden at Leopardstown as the 1/6 favourite, did win by 10 lengths and appears to be progressing well, with today's rider claiming a helpful 3lbs. Real Force has a rating of 99 and is a big danger, having shown smart ability last year and on two runs this year. His form had been over sprint trips prior to his latest run at Killarney but ran well over a mile then and should give the selection plenty to worry about. Latin Five improved his rating following a good effort at Naas latest but now steps up half a furlong to this trip for the first time, with testing ground another concern stamina-wise. Comfort Line was beaten in a Galway handicap 10 days ago but has form on testing ground and could get involved, despite being a little wrong at the weights.

MADAKET MYSTERY might be able to get off the mark on her seventh attempt here, following some good efforts in defeat recently. She has proven herself a consistent performer from debut, is well suited by today's trip and also is very much proven on testing ground. She bumped into progressive Star Of Cashel on each of her last two starts and while she now races against older horses, looks the type to win from her mark. Kodiac Prince won from an 11bs lower mark on easy ground at Gowran last month and has obvious claims, despite himself now taking on older horses and from a much higher rating. Arletta Star wasn't beaten too far in a valuable handicap at the Curragh last month and is interesting here as a previous soft ground, distance winner in Britain who is proving herself able at this type of 72 rating. At War ran well enough in a soft ground Galway handicap recently and while he has claims, has a wide draw in 17 to overcome. Feminista was a beaten favourite at Gowran latest but is a previous testing ground winner who has obvious claims on her earlier form in June.

DEWCUP won twice in bumpers last year and looks well capable of making an impact under Flat rules. The Ted Walsh-trained gelding handled both good and soft ground when successful at Tramore and Punchestown. He also ran with plenty of credit in a Grade 2 event at Aintree and when third to Uhtred in a Listed bumper at Navan. Hopefully the market will speak in his favour following an eight months absence. Watchmen was noted staying on late on debut when third at Killarney last month and looks sure to progress, while Silver Fox had Danger Money about a length behind when runner-up over this trip at Down Royal.

WHAT WONDERS WEAVE reverts to the Flat with good claims in this Lady Riders event. The Shark Hanlon-trained mare has been placed twice recently over hurdles including when finishing strongly at Ballinrobe. She appears to handle soft ground well having won twice at Hamilton in those conditions off a higher mark a few seasons back. The booking of Aine O'Connor is a big plus. Jazz Lady relished soft ground when scoring twice at Galway last autumn and should progress from her reappearance at Roscommon, while Curragh winner Place Des Vosges is another strong contender having backed that victory up with another solid effort at Leopardstown. The front-running Milford Sound appeared to run well above previous form last time when third to Tandem in a Leopardstown amateur riders' race. The handicapper put him up 20lb as a result, and he reopposes Persian Lion who filled the runner-up spot in that 1m4f event.
