CHOSEN FLAME was in good form over timber earlier in the year and went close on his seasonal return over 2m4f here last month. He has made the podium off a mark of 91 on three successive appearances now and the drop back in trip could see Rose Dobbin's eight-year-old land a deserved victory. Gemologist is only 1lb higher than when beaten half a length at Musselburgh in February and is the pick of Lucinda Russell's pair. Zabeel Star is also interesting returning to hurdles following some fine efforts on the Flat recently.
Prediction : 1st Chosen Flame 2nd Gemologist 3rd Zabeel Star

PETRASTAR rates the one to beat as he puts his unbeaten hurdles record on the line, stepping up in trip following a comfortable success over two miles here last month. C'Est Le Bonheur was a winner on his sole start so far for Dr Richard Newland and could be a factor if fully tuned up for his first appearance in almost two years. A step up in distance could suit four-time Flat winner Tartan Bute, with Lucinda Russell's pair of Mannochmore and Offtheshoulder others to note.
Prediction : 1st Petrastar 2nd CEst Le Bonheur 3rd Tartan Bute

DR HOOVES is only 2lb higher than when scoring at Musselburgh on his penultimate start and the pick of Lucinda Russell's trio makes plenty of appeal on his first outing since wind surgery. Somethinboutangela was a useful third off this mark over hurdles at Market Rasen last time and the consistent filly is interesting now trying fences. Court Dreaming has done well over the summer months in the past, but was well held when unseating his rider over course and distance last month and may have to settle for a podium spot this time.
Prediction : 1st Dr Hooves 2nd Somethinboutangela 3rd Court Dreaming

CRAIGMOR defied a 13-month absence to win at Market Rasen when returning to hurdles and Olly Murphy's gelding warrants plenty of respect despite a 5lb rise for that success. No Hiding Place was disqualified on his debut for Jimmy Moffett when third past the post at Kelso, due to the rider not weighing in, but he did enough on that occasion to suggest that he has been helped by the change of scenery, while the form of Chocolat Noir's recent Cartmel victory gives her every chance.
Prediction : 1st Craigmor 2nd No Hiding Place 3rd Chocolat Noir

RAECIUS FELIX was last seen finishing second over fences at Newcastle last December and the six-year-old makes plenty of appeal on his handicap debut over hurdles after joining Rebecca Menzies. Millarville wasn't out of the equation when falling here over fences last month and she is respected back over the smaller obstacles. Fubar, who placed on both of his starts at Market Rasen last month, and Ardera Cross, who shaped in need of the run on his latest start over C&D, are feared most of the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Raecius Felix 2nd Millarville 3rd Fubar

DAGIAN didn't kick on as expected in three subsequent outings over timber after placing on his hurdling debut at Catterick in February 2019. That said, the five-year-old comes into this on the back of a wind operation which could make the difference required. Similar comments apply to Last King Of Wales on his handicap bow, while the drop back in trip may play to the strengths of Lady Samback.
Prediction : 1st Dagian 2nd Last King Of Wales 3rd Lady Samback

FORECAST would arguably have finished closer than he did but for a mistake at the last when third on his first outing for Dr Richard Newland at Market Rasen last month and has now been given a huge chance by the assessor on his first handicap chase outing. Lucinda Russell has a strong hand with the returning 10-year-old Voix D'Eau and course-and-distance winner Boy's On Tour. The latter was second off this mark on his reappearance here last month, while Monsieur Co wasn't far behind when fourth in that contest.
Prediction : 1st Forecast 2nd Boys On Tour 3rd Monsieur Co

ISTIMRAAR has ben kept busy since the restart but continues to perform with credit and is backed to be right in the mix once again, despite a rising rating. The nine-year-old has hung left the last twice and the application of a hood could keep him heading in the right direction when it matters most. Walkin In The Rain was sent off favourite when the selection was a winner over course and distance last month, finishing a long way back in fifth, and could prove popular once again with cheekpieces now tried, while Fresh New Dawn unseated his rider early into proceedings at Cartmel recently and may be worth another chance off the same mark.
Prediction : 1st Istimraar 2nd Walkin In The Rain 3rd Fresh New Dawn

HEADSCARF LIL has probably achieved the most in this field and despite being a beaten favourite on her last couple of starts, the daughter of Getaway might just benefit from a sounder surface compared to what she encountered on her penultimate outing at Wetherby. Lady Bowes has displayed ability in her three outings so far and enters calculations with one of the newcomers, Against All Odds, who boasts a solid National Hunt pedigree.
Prediction : 1st Headscarf Lil 2nd Lady Bowes 3rd Against All Odds
