UK Horse Racing Tips: Dundalk

It's not easy to look beyond DENSE STAR here with that 94 rating to her name. The daughter of Starspangledbanner drops back from the Listed company she kept at Naas last time, and hopefully she'll graduate to racing on the polytrack without any issue. Mikey Sheehy takes the mount with his seven pound claim, and one of the newcomers is going to have to perform to a high rating to lower the colours of the Joseph O'Brien representative. The market will hopefully guide with regard to the ten first-timers. Belle Image, Chica Power and Zaffy's Pride are listed as barrier trial winners, so they could certainly enter the equation.

TY ROCK BRANDY could gain a second success at Dundalk after winning here in March 2019. That victory was gained over five furlongs but at the age she is now she should be capable of managing six, and she promised as much by the way she finished off over the minimum at the Curragh last time. Third behind Bahlwan then, Ty Rock Brandy was slowly into stride and raced towards the rear. Pushed along and closer on the far side two furlongs out, the selection was ridden and made headway over a furlong out. From there she went third a hundred yards out, keeping on to be only beaten a length and three parts. There are other previous Dundalk winners in the mix too. Eacharn has a 'CD' to his name. Hugh Horgan helps offset Eacharn's top-weight burden with his 7Ib claim. The Lilbourne Lad gelding can get involved.

ALLIGATOR ALLEY might be able to defy top-weight in his first handicap. Joseph O'Brien tries cheek-pieces on the Kingman colt, having his first start in 220 days when second at Naas last time. Previous to that he'd contested the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Santa Anita in November, when equipped with blinkers. It was a Listed race in which he finished runner-up to Punita Arora at Naas, and switching to polytrack Alligator Alley will hopefully find six furlongs within his compass. Never Before could be a nice back-up contender for Joseph O'Brien under Eddie Greatrex, whilst his father Aidan's Pistoletto needs a little bit of respecting too. Like Alligator Alley, Pistoletto is also in his first handicap on his initial encounter with the polytrack. All told cases can be built for quite a few of them.

SENSE OF STYLE could show the benefit of having had a run here. The market really ought to be very informative given that Sense Of Style is joined by her first time out fellow Joseph O'Brien contender, Boyne River, and his father Aidan's newcomer Cartouche is also in the mix. Admittedly it's been over two months ago now since we saw Sense Of Style, but the merit of her Navan effort in a decent heat is there for all to see. Waited with behind the leaders at Proudstown Park the selection was slightly impeded two furlongs out. Soon making no impression she kept on without threatening inside the final furlong, hinting that this step up in trip should be all in her favour. Equilove seemed to have no excuse as she was post race normal last time. She may be worth another chance though, to put that disappointing effort well in the past.

Quite a few in contention here, for at least a place in the frame. The six that have an official rating are within a nine pound range. With his 80 mark TURBO COMMAND is just about top of the tree, and he's the tentative suggestion. The War Command gelding has experience on the all-weather and he was only beaten a neck on one occasion over track and trip. Who is to say either that Turbo Command won't come forward another little bit for moving to the Mick Halford stable. Make A Promise only has one outing under her belt so there's likely plenty more to come from her, which would make her dangerous considering she was a good second at Naas already. Concra Man finished second in a barrier trial here.

SOLENE LILYETTE showed promise on debut at Ballinrobe and ran a cracker again over nine furlongs when the stable second string at Leopardstown last week. The Pivotal filly set the pace until over a furlong out and should be suited by this step back to seven furlongs. I Know I Can is a serious threat having progressed from his Navan debut to score in good style at Sligo only for that winning bracket to be removed due to a positive test for a prohibitive substance. Balmari has already shown his liking for this surface having filled the runner-up spot twice, while any market move for newcomers Bluebeard's Castle or Irish Admiral would be interesting.

MIRANN has a stiff task under top-weight but may well prove up to the job with the Johnny Murtagh yard continuing in fine form. The French import impressed on his first outing for current connections when scoring over an extended nine furlongs at Gowran Park before running a bit freely when probably finding the step up to a mile and three quarters too far at the Curragh. This trip should prove ideal and Danny Sheehy's claim helps relieve some of the burden. Donnacha O'Brien has a couple of strong contenders with Galway maiden winner The Rain KIng and Mythologic, who was unlucky in running at the Curragh last Sunday. Verimli, Magnetic North, Baby Zeus, Winner Takes Itall and the veteran Tandem all have their chance in a competitive event.

LOUGHANLEA LASS didn't show too much in her opening eight starts with probably the best effort coming over this course and distance last November. However, the addition of a tongue tie and cheek pieces brought about improvement last time at Leopardstown where she beat all bar Dark Magic despite an unfavourable wide draw. Irish Ambassador is also a nine race maiden but went close on his latest two outings over course and distance earlier this year. Fascinating Spirit comes here off the back of a good recent run having been prominent throughout over seven at Cork last Saturday and she also ran well over this trip at Killarney last month. Miss Cunning and Sienna Lady are others to consider.
