DHAHABI justified strong market support when making a winning debut over this trip at Newmarket and the way he ran green and hung left late on that day suggests that there is plenty of improvement to come. If stepping forward as expected, he could take this class rise in his stride. Guru similarly toughed it out on his debut over course and distance and he warrants plenty of respect representing John Gosden, while Francesco Guardi and Jumby are other first-time-out winners to note. The more experienced players looks a shade vulnerable.

Orbaan ran well enough in defeat on ground that was probably fast enough for him at York last time and would be interesting if 'soft' appeared in the going description. Prince Of Harts progressed nicely in 2019 for Rod Millman and could find a bit extra now with Stuart Williams, but this can go the way of AFAAK. Third in the Golden Mile at Goodwood last month, the six-year-old has placed in several competitive heats over the last 12 months and appears handicapped to strike.

Morando is a lot better than his effort in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot and any rainfall will play to his strengths, while Hukum, winner of the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot, and the consistent Tritonic are both of considerable interest receiving the weight-for-age allowance.

Glorious Journey returns to defend his title from 12 months ago but Charlie Appleby's gelding needs to bounce back from his first run for a while in the Lennox at Goodwood. The vote, therefore, goes to DREAM OF DREAMS, who appeared to be as good as ever when runner-up in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot for the second year in succession and the extra furlong won't be an issue. Threat is respected dropping in class for the first time since landing the Champagne at Doncaster last September.

DEISE BLUE was fourth to the ill-fated Fly Miss Helen in a hot-looking contest here on debut, loosing third in the dying strides. William Haggas' Tick Toch is a half-sister to the useful Tiempo Vuela and is one of the more likely newcomers, with Richard Hannon's Toronado filly Zwelela also of note.

The form of WINTER THORN's recent Windsor second was boosted when the winner followed up at Sandown and Roger Varian's 375,000gns buy, who was much improved when upped to this trip on that occasion, could go one better now entering the handicap ranks. Eve Johnson Haughton has a strong hand with recent Bath scorer Ridgeway and HMS President, who made the podium at Newmarket last time to follow up a fine effort when fourth at Royal Ascot. Bright Eyed Eagle hasn't been disgraced off this rating since winning at Goodwood in June and is another for the shortlist.
