Royal Ascot Gold Cup 2021: When is the race?

This year’s Ascot Gold Cup is being run on Thursday the 17th of June 2021 at 16:15. 13 runners are currently entered in the race, headed by Stradivarius, who is bidding for a fourth victory in the race.

Royal Ascot Gold Cup 2021: Where is the money going?

With rain due tomorrow at Ascot, it’s Trueshan who’s being very strongly supported at the moment. 7/1 on Wednesday morning, he’s now as short as 7/2 with some firms. A best price of 9/2 is still on offer.

In the last 12 hours, he’s the most backed horse in the race with a huge 41% of all bets.

Alan King’s five-year-old was very impressive when winning the Long Distance Cup here last October in soft conditions. With all the rain forecast, punters think he could produce a similar performance tomorrow.

Stradivarius was odds-on across the board, but some bookmakers have pushed him out to 11/10 over the course of the day.

It would be foolish to write off the three-time Ascot Gold Cup winner. He showed last year he handled soft conditions fine when bolting up in probably his most impressive Gold Cup performance to date.

The superstar stayer is the second most horse in the race (32% of bets), but it’s interesting that Trueshan is proving more popular at this stage.

Subjectivist was second-favourite but has drifted from 5/1 out to 13/2. He was last seen winning the Dubai Gold Cup in Meydan at March. He’s untried over this trip, but if he stays, then he could be a player.

All the money so far has been either for Trueshan or Stradivarius, who are dominating the oddschecker betting at the moment. Of those at bigger prices, there’s been small interest for Nayef Road at 50/1.
