The William Haggas trained LANCERO (best priced at 11-2) has only beaten two rivals home in his three starts so far but he should now prove a different prospect on handicap debut off a mark of 51. The son of Iffraaj has looked outpaced over a mile on his previous starts and connections now step the three-year-old up in trip to 1m2f for his handicap debut.

Furthermore, Lancero is now fitted with first time blinkers in this race and that should drastically aid him in this 0-55 handicap. The William Haggas stable continue in good form operating at a 23% strike rate and I expect to see a much improved performance from Lancero on his handicap debut.

With form figures at Yarmouth of 3213, it is easy to see why the consistent DASHING DICK (best priced at 11-4) is well fancied for this 0-80 handicap. The William Stone trained gelding has form figures of 224213 since being fitted with cheekpieces and has developed a good relationship with Laura Pearson on his previous two starts.

Dashing Dick won by a nose over this course and distance in July off a mark of 74 before finishing 3rd over this course and distance 13 days ago when only beaten ½ length in a close finish. The son of Cable Bay led at a steady pace that day but was just caught a little flat footed when the pace lifted 2f out and battled back to finish only ½ length behind the winner. I expect Laura Pearson to lead at a stronger pace in this race and Dashing Dick should therefore prove hard to beat off the same mark of 77.

The Clive Cox trained DARK SWANSONG (best priced at 7-4) put in a highly promising effort when 4th on his debut at Newbury last month and he should prove hard to beat if stepping forward from that run. The son of Dark Angel cost 100,000gns as a yearling and made an encouraging debut in what looked a strong novice race when finishing best of the newcomers that day.

Dark Swansong ran green when asked for his effort 2f out but made good late headway under tender handling from Adam Kirby implying that it was a run for the experience that day. The Hugo Palmer trained Hierachy made a winning debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month but that was only by a head and he should struggle to concede 7lb to Dark Swansong in this race.
