It is interesting that the Charlie Hills trained MOTAGALLY (best priced at 4-1) hasn’t worn blinkers on his three runs this season but they now return as he has dropped down the weights. The gelding won twice last season including an impressive 2 ¼ length victory at Bath off a mark of 96 before finishing 3rd at Kempton off a mark of 103.

Motagally has run with credit on his three starts this season and was only beaten a length by Danzeno when 4th at Nottingham last time but the handicapper has been generous and dropped the son of Swiss Spirit 3lb for that run down to a mark of 98. The blinkers now return and he should also be suited by the return to 6f and I expect him to run well under Jim Crowley.

The David O’Meara trained RHOSCOLYN (best priced at 11-4) is a progressive three-year-old who deserves to take his chance in this Group 3 Supreme Stakes. The gelding has already won three times this season including over this course and distance before finishing 2nd at Pontefract in a listed race on his penultimate start.

Rhoscolyn was really unlucky when second in the Golden Mile Handicap here 30 days ago when repeatedly denied a clear run late on before running on well to take 2nd behind Maydanny. The form of that run was boosted yesterday with the third Escobar finishing a neck 2nd behind Aratus over this course and distance and Rhoscolyn is expected to cope with the rise in class and the drop in distance back to 7f.

Rhoscolyn - 1pt @ 11/4

The well bred Juddmonte filly MAYTAL (best priced at 5-2) is a half sister to the likes of Midday and Hot Snap and she should be able to win this handicap off a mark of 88. She is consistent as shown by her form figures of 332132 and arguably should have won at Salisbury last time if she hadn’t wandered around inside the final furlong under pressure.

Connections now fit Maytal with first time blinkers to help her concentrate and the Sir Michael Stoute trained filly is expected to defy a 3lb rise for her neck defeat last time with Ryan Moore back on board.

Maytal - 1pt @ 5/2
