Despite finishing 2nd as a beaten favourite over this course and distance last time, MYRISTICA (best priced at 2-1) looks to hold leading claims in this race. The Tim Easterby trained filly has looked progressive in handicaps this season and has improved from a mark of 68 up to mark of 80. The three-year-old won over this course and distance on his penultimate start off a mark of 73 when victorious by 3 ½ lengths. 

The handicapper raised Myristica up 7lb to a mark of 80 for her next start where she finished a two length second behind an unexposed Roger Varian runner. That was a good performance and a repeat effort should be enough to make her hard to beat in this race off the same mark.

SKY BLUE THINKING (best priced at 9-2) has won both her starts since joining the Adam West stable and should make a bold bid for hat-trick back over this course and distance. She joined the stable rated 52 and she won her stable debut impressively by 3 ¾ lengths over this course and distance earlier this month. She followed up off the same mark six days later to win under Geogia Dobie at Chelmsford by a neck and now runs in this race off a mark of 60.

Sky Blue Thinking was previously rated as high as 69 when trained by Clive Cox so this mark of 60 could still underestimate her and this in-form runner looks hard to keep out of the frame back at Wolverhampton.

Charlotte Jones would have had the choice of the three Jimmy Moffatt trained runners in this race and has chosen to ride NATIVE FIGHTER (best priced at 3-1). The seven-year-old has won three times since joining the stable and has been running consistently well at this track on his previous three starts. The gelding beat No Comment over 2m6f here off a mark of 120 before finishing 3rd on his next two starts off marks of 124 over trips of 2m1f and 2m6f.

On his latest start Native Fighter got outpaced before staying on strongly over 2m6f shaping like this step up to 3m1f would really suit him. The handicapper has dropped him 1lb for his latest run in July and I expect him to prove hard to beat following a 44 day break.
