Despite disappointing last time when too keen on his handicap debut, the William Haggas trained Nuance (best priced at 9/4) remains a colt open to progress this season. The son of Frankel had previously finished 4th on debut at Haydock over 6f before improving for a step up in trip to 7f on his next start when 3rd behind the now 99 rated Mr McCann and 107 rated Triple Time and in front of the 91 rated La Pugla and 111 rated Modern Games.

Nuance made all at Chester on his penultimate start beating the now 101 rated Prosperous Voyage so it is easy to see why he was extremely popular on his handicap debut off an opening mark of 87. He attempted to make all once again but was far too keen in the early stages that he weakened late on to finish 4th but he should prove hard to beat in this race if settling better with Adam Farragher claiming a valuable 5lb off his back.

The Eddie Lynam trained Tide Of Time (best priced at 6/4) is yet to win so far this season but should hold strong claims following his close 2nd over this course and distance last month. The seven-year-old won last season at Navan off a mark of 84 so he remains well handicapped off 2lb lower and comes into the race with good form over this course and distance this season. He finished 3rd off this mark in July under Dylan McMonagle before finishing only a neck behind That’s Mad over this course and distance 36 days ago.

The form of that run has been boosted by the winner following up on his next start and he is now rated 6lb higher. Tide Of Time gets to run here off an unchanged mark of 82 and should prove hard to beat with Dylan McMonagle once again claiming 3lb.

The Ian Williams trained Liberated Lad (best priced at 5/2) has shown improved form in cheekpieces on his previous two starts and the gelding should prove hard to beat in this race. The son of Muhaarar won by two lengths at Windsor earlier this month off a mark of 58 before almost defying a 5lb rise at Hamilton last time.

Liberated Lad was only beaten a short head by the favourite Haveyoumissedme on soft ground last time and the pair pulled three lengths clear of the third. The handicapper has raised Liberated Lad 3lb for that run but he gets to run here off his previous mark so is 3lb “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat as a result with Ben Curtis retaining the ride.
