This Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes represents a drop in class for HIERACHY (best priced at 3-1) and that should make the Mehmas colt hard to beat. The Hugo Palmer trained two-year-old won his first two starts at Wolverhampton and Salisbury before finishing a close 3rd in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes back on the AW.

Hierachy finished only a head behind old rival Wings Of War in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes last time at Newbury where he was only headed entering the final 100 yards of the race. He now drops back down from a Group 2 to a Group 3 contest and should prove hard to beat if coping with the slightly softer ground.

The prospect of drying ground improves the chances of the Chris Wall trained DOUBLE OF BUBBLE (best priced at 15-2) and I expect her to run well if allowed to take her chance. She emulated her sister to Mix and Mingle by winning over this course and distance on her reappearance before coping with the drop down to 6f to win a listed race at Pontefract by two lengths.

Double Or Bubble has finished runner-up in her previous two starts over 7f at Group 3 level and despite this being a Group 2, it doesn’t look the strongest race. She gets a handy 3lb sex allowance from her main market rivals in this race and that means she hasn’t got a lot to find on ratings.

The Ralph Beckett trained PROSPEROUS VOYAGE (best priced at 40-1) was eventually beaten nearly four lengths by the favourite Inspiral last time in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster but she looks wildly overpriced in this race as a place prospect. Her 3rd in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood looks strong form with the fourth Hello You winning the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on her next start and she was actually quite unlucky not to finish closer to the reopposing winner Mise En Scene in that race.

Prosperous Voyage is closely matched on ratings with the field (other than Inspiral) and I will be surprised if she isn’t battling it out for the places at the end of the race. The favourite will no doubt prove hard to beat but sometimes these end of season Group 1s don’t always go to plan and I think it is worth taking a chance on Prosperous Voyage at a big price.
