Talented 5lb claimer Amie Waugh rode LORD OF THE GLEN (best priced at 4-1) to victory at Newcastle last month off a mark of 56 and the pair should now prove hard to beat back on turf off a much lower mark of 47. With a record of only one win from 33 starts on turf it is obvious to see that the six-year-old gelding isn’t as good as on the AW but it was over this course and distance earlier this season that his success came at.

Following that victory, Lord Of The Glen did go on to place at Ayr, Carlisle and this course and distance off marks of 48, 48 and 47 so he should be involved at the finish. He beat the reopposing Fossos and Elzaal at Newcastle last time and should run well with four places on offer.

The Julie Camacho trained MAKANAH (best priced at 2-1) is unlucky not to be unbeaten over this course and distance and should hold strong claims of repeating his success in this race last year. He defeated the higher rated Danzeno by half a length last year despite having to give weight away to this rival and was unlucky not to win here in August when 2nd by a short head off a mark of 99 when he was denied a clear run inside the final furlong.

The favourite Roulston Scar is favoured by the figures in this race but preference goes to Makanah who has proven form over this course and distance. He has to bounce back from a slightly disappointing run in a Group 3 last time at Newbury but is expected to run well back over this course and distance.

The three-year-old ALBEGONE (best priced at 11-4) has form figures of 4112 since the fitting of blinkers including one success over this course and distance. The Tim Easterby trained gelding won off marks of 53 and 59 before only being beaten a head at Redcar last time off a mark of 65.

The handicapper has raised Albegone 3lb up to a mark of 68 for that run but that seems fair as he actually finished 1st of 5 in his group that day. He now goes up in class to a Class 4 handicap but should hold strong claims off bottom weight with Duran Fentiman back on board.
