Steve Ryder has three selections for today's racing.
The Brian O’Rourke trained DELAHOUSSAYE (best priced at 15/2) was well supported into 9/4 favourite last time at Chelmsford where he ran better than his finishing position of 5th suggests. The son of Footstepsinthesand has put in his two best performances so far at Chelmsford so this track should also suit the gelding well.
Delahoussaye finished 2nd off a mark of 60 in September before finishing 5th last time when actually only beaten 1 ¼ lengths at the finish. The beaten favourite didn’t get the clearest run that day in the straight but stayed on well over the 6f trip shaping as if this step up to 7f would suit him well. The form of that run has been boosted with the third Excelling and fourth Be Glorious both winning on their next starts so it is easy to see why the handicapper wants to raise Delahoussaye 1lb. This doesn’t come into effect yet though so he runs here 1lb “well in” and is also fitted with first-time cheekpieces. Bookmakers are offering up to five places on the race and he looks sure to hit the frame despite coming out of Stall 10.
This looks a competitive maiden hurdle but preference goes to DEDANSER (best priced at 5/2) for the in-form Donald McCain stable. His yard is having a fantastic season so far and they continue to operate at a high level with a 32% strike rate in the last two weeks. The five-year-old finished 3rd in an Irish PTP before finishing 3rd in a novice hurdle at Carlisle over 2m4f.
The form of that race was boosted on Monday with the second Famous Bridge winning at Ayr and Dedanser also looked like he would appreciate this step up to 3 miles. The favourite Another Brown Bear deserves respect and is another who looks to be suited by this step up in trip but preference goes to Dedanser to continue his stables good current form.
The Donald McCain trained GOOBINATOR (best priced at 5/2) fell when sent off favourite for a Class 2 handicap at Bangor but he should be able to bounce back in this Class 3 contest. He had previously been in good form on the flat winning at York and Haydock before finishing 4th in the Cesarewitch Handicap at Newmarket. He was a well-backed 13/8 favourite last time at Bangor in a race that featured the likes of Hunters Call and Llandinabo Lad where the reopposing Bold Plan could only finish 7th.
Goobinator was still travelling well when falling 3 out and should be able to bounce back in this weaker contest. His stable remains in good form and he should be able to defeat the likes of Gran Luna, Enemy Coast Ahead and Homme Public who are all making their reappearance.
