GYTO's Monday notebook double pays 7/1.
Paul Nicholls had a great weekend and he has a good chance of a winner at Ludlow on Monday to start a new week. MIRANDA (best price 7/4) won 2 of her last 4 over hurdles last season and was an eye-catcher on return when second at Wetherby in October. That was a strong race and while she couldn’t match the easy winner Molly Ollys Wishes she did herself pull 2 and a quarter lengths clear from Marie’s Rock with the rest of the field well strung out. She will come on for that and back into handicap company she is going to take a fair bit of stopping. She has already won over this C&D and with See The Sea likely to give her a good target to aim at I can see this panning out perfectly for her. Voice Of Calm looks the danger as she also ran well when a close-up second at Fakenham on return and with more to offer can put up the most resistance.
The market is finding it hard to split the front pair here but I much prefer the chances of ENFRANCHISE (best price 15/8) for Mark Johnston. This Invincible Spirit filly has won 2 of her last 3 and she clocked a career best winning at Lingfield last month. She proved her opening mark of just 72 to be all wrong and despite being sent off a big price was much the best swooping late. A 3lb rise looks more than fair given the third Trevolli has beaten an in-form Headingley since to frank the form. She is versatile as to how this can be run as she has made all in the past so if they try and make it tactical it wouldn’t surprise me if 5lb claimer Andrew Breslin sent her on. She was seen to good effect coming from off the pace last time though and that might suit her better if Swinton Noon wants to make it. The danger is Tricolore but she can pull her chance away.
