Mr Washington (best priced at 9/2) has looked extremely progressive since joining Tom Symonds with form figures of 111141 for his new trainer. He resumed his progress when benefitting from a wind operation last time at Chepstow when he showed a good attitude to win by a neck with the pair pulling 11 lengths clear of the third.

The handicapper has raised Mr Washington 4lb for that victory which seems very fair and the eight-year-old should prove hard to beat with Lorcan Murtagh retaining the ride.

Mr Washington - 0.5pts e/w @ 9/2

The Harry Fry trained Master Debonair (best priced at 6/1) caught the eye when making his chasing debut at Ffos Las last time and I expect him to prove hard to beat here with that run under his belt. He was previously a high-class bumper horse and novice hurdler who won a strong renewal of the Grade 2 Kennel Gate Novices’ Hurdle at Ascot a couple of years ago before losing his way for Colin Tizzard like many of the stables’ horses last season.

Master Debonair finished 3rd at Ffos Las on his chasing debut but looked badly in need of the run on his reappearance and much better is expected here. The form of that race has been boosted by the second One True King winning on his next start and Master Debonair has kindly been dropped 3lb by the handicapper down to a mark of 134. The presence of Call Me Lord in this race keeps the weights low for his rivals and I expect Master Debonair to get off the mark over fences on the second attempt.

Master Debonair - 0.5pts e/w @ 6/1

Hidor De Bersy (best priced at 11/10) defied odds of 18/1 to make a winning debut last season in a bumper before making an encouraging hurdling debut 29 days ago. The four-year-old looked to have the race in control when taking up the running at Carlisle two hurdles out but couldn’t give weight away to the filly Nurse Susan who made an impressive winning debut that day. That rival has boosted the form with another victory at Leicester on her next start and is as short as 12/1 for the Mares’ Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Anyharminasking has an official rating of 118 over hurdles following his two starts but I will be disappointed if Hidor De Bersy doesn’t get off the mark on his second attempt over hurdles.
