With last time out winners Captain Quint and Crystal Glory both penalised I think this can go the way of CONTEMPLATEMYFAITH for Olly Murphy. I thought he ran a really encouraging race on hurdles debut finishing third to the useful looking Milan Bridge. He was only beaten 2 lengths and struck me as a horse that would know a lot more next time out. The front 3 came nicely clear from the rest and I think it’s decent form with the second Marble Sands having acquitted himself well in defeat behind the progressive Mr Glass since. This step-up in trip will suit and he looks to have plenty going for him. Crystal Glory showed a good attitude to go clear late at Hexham last month and is probably the biggest danger of the two horses that have won already. Captain Quint obviously also has to be respected in what looks a good race.

In a race that might not take a great deal of winning, I think STORM ASSET looks a standout. He easily ran his best race to date beaten just 2 and a half lengths over 6f here on handicap debut and I know he officially finished down the field there was a lot of promise to take from that. He was slowly into stride and could never really get a blow in until running on strongly late. He goes up to 7f now and with a cleaner break out the stalls he must go close here off 1lb lower. That was just his fourth start so he is still learning what is required and I expect him to be a lot sharper now. Copper Mountain has also shown ability and was a good third at Newcastle. If she can build on that she is the most likely danger to the selection. Berry Quick has had a few chances already but on the pick of his form he has to be considered as well.
