I think STORM OF LIGHT (best price 2/1) has been a bit of a work in progress so far so it was all the more encouraging to see him open his account over hurdles at just the second time of asking at Uttoxeter last month. He didn’t put in the most assured round of jumping but his engine still took him to the front 2 out and he kept on strongly to the line to win. The form isn’t up to much but at least the second Fine Casting is a solid yardstick and the rest were well strung out. An opening mark of 114 could underestimate him on handicap debut here and it’s no surprise to see him figure prominently in the betting at the time of writing. Those Tiger Feet has enough to prove on return but could still figure under likely aggressive tactics. I think Rosy World is the danger though as she improved to win at Warwick and ran well in defeat on final start so could still have more to offer.

This looks a good opportunity for CASH MACHINE (best price 9/4) to get himself back in the winners enclosure. He was very much back to form in a first-time visor when third at Wolverhampton last month and with that headgear discarded here he should be spot on for this. He is off a mark of just 77 now and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t prove better than that given his breeding and what he has already shown of course. I think as long as Jack Mitchell doesn’t have him too far back and he is within range to strike he should be finishing best. Follow Your Heart was well backed in a competitive handicap at Chelmsford and very nearly landed the gamble missing by just a neck in the end. He has been nudged up 3lb though and this looks a better race so while he could be the danger I think he is opposable. Dutch Decoy is capable but doesn’t always put it all in.
