This should be a good test and that can suit the improving COMPLETE UNKNOWN (best price 2/1) who looked all about stamina when staying on well into second at Chepstow last time. The winner Ree Okka looks a nice prospect for Harry Fry so I think there is no reason to doubt the form. The front 3 came some 8 and a half lengths clear from the rest so it should work out well enough in time. He should relish this step up in trip here and with that experience under his belt he looks well placed to make the breakthrough. Kincardine was said to be one of Nicky Henderson’s better novice hurdles before finishing third at Newbury. He can improve from that so shouldn’t be ruled out as he will be more streetwise now. City Chief might be a bigger danger though as he is well related and didn’t come cheap. Soldier Of Destiny could also be a nice type but probably needs time and experience.

There could be one or two potentially smart types lurking in here but experience should count for plenty and I think ATTENTIVE (best price 2/1) can get the job done for William Haggas. She could be useful herself having shown much more when a close third at Wolverhampton last time and with further improvement likely she can go a couple of places better tonight under Tom Marquand. She finished last of all on debut but clearly needed it and came home well once the penny dropped last time. This extra furlong should play to her strengths and I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t go close. Show Lights went off short enough on debut but showed next to nothing. She is likely to improve in the first-time cheekpieces but might still need more time. Loch Lundie is the most interesting of the newcomers and I’ll be keeping a close eye on the market on that one.
